John was great at helping us pick out our new car and answer all our questions. We didn’t feel rushed and would definitely go back to him and this dealership in the future. answer all our questions. We didn’t feel rushed and would definitely go back to him and this dealership in the future. More
In an attempt at fairness, I’d like to discuss the highs and lows purchasing a car at Nissan of Cool Springs. Like any purchase, there’s good and bad. THE GOOD Customer Service: Top notch. These g and lows purchasing a car at Nissan of Cool Springs. Like any purchase, there’s good and bad. THE GOOD Customer Service: Top notch. These guys are going to make you feel good about being a customer there. There are awards all over the place to show 1) how much they care about their reputation and 2) how they’re recognized among their peers. My wife and I are immunocompromised, so we asked that our salesman take all COVID precautions. This meant masks at all times and as much of the dealing outdoors as possible. Joshua and the team were very accommodating, and we signed all of our paperwork outside on a beautiful night. Unfortunately, many of the other salesmen and customers inside were unmasked, so it was necessary for us to remain outside. Financing: For financing, I was pretty insistent that I be able to continue my financing relationship with my current bank. Joshua and Gabe did everything in their power to route financing through my preferred lender. This was important to me, and they delivered. THE BAD Unwanted GPS: I had to pay $700 for a GPS device I did not want. I asked if there was a way to not have this installed and it was presented to me in a way that made me feel I did not have a choice. About a week later, I received an email stating service on the device had been cancelled. So I had to pay for a device that I didn’t want, then it was cancelled by the dealership who said I had to pay for it in the first place. There is no information regarding the GPS in any of the materials given to me in my packet, I cannot get much information regarding the service because the user interface is so awfully designed, AND customer service with IKON GPS is sadly inept in dealing with the customer side of things. Not only did this cost money out of my pocket, it raises a number of privacy issues. If you visit the IKON GPS site, you’ll see that it’s a service for dealers, not something that is for car buyers. Do whatever you can to avoid paying this fee and have it uninstalled before purchasing your car. I wish I could say that I feel good about where this data is going, but again, I have zero documentation from the dealership regarding the tracking device installed on my car. The Used Car Inspection Fee: Joshua was very upfront in that there would be an inspection fee attached to the price of the car. Kudos to him for this. This fee is something we were told we wouldn’t be able to get out of. What this means is—and this is important—the price you see on the website is not what you will pay when you roll up to the dealership. It is not something already included in a price you see online, they will tack this fee on and there isn’t much you can do about it. Depending on your budget, it can be a considerable amount. The fee covers a 100-some-odd point inspection, detailing, etc (I understand that's stuff you have to do when selling a used car, but your average consumer would assume a dealership has built this into the price already, if we’re being honest). Things got interesting once we got into haggling territory: NOW this fee is negotiable. So the price of the car isn’t negotiable, but this fee is somehow workable now that they have someone on the hook. We weren’t able to get the fee completely taken off, but Joshua and his manager did allow us to get to a price we all agreed on. That was nice and we appreciated their working with us, but the weirdness of not including the inspection fee online puts a customer on the defense and makes you wonder what else is up the dealer’s sleeve. OVERALL During the paperwork and finance portion of the deal, Gabe in Finance made a great point that I think about a lot. He said, “Look, we’re one of the higher end Nissan dealerships in this area, and we have a reputation to maintain.” He’s totally right. That’s why my wife and I prefer to go to a dealership like Nissan of Cool Springs. Smaller dealerships really don't care if they get a bad rap, but a large dealership like this puts a lot of work in delivering a good product so that they're reputation isn't damaged--and it works, I'm really enjoying my car. So far so good. The overall experience with the people we interacted with was as good as it gets; however, the dealership has some issues that appear to be outside the salesmen’s control. More
