Another time I went into the service department because the light 'TPMS' came on. I looked this up in the driver's manual so knew what it meant. The tech told me the sensors in the tires were bad and needed replacing. I asked how much that would cost and he said $600 each and I needed to replace all 4. That would be $2,400 plus tax. I told him to forget it and he tried to convince me how important and necessary it was to repair. I told him I'm 80 years old and they never had these sensors on cars until recently and they did fine. I grew up when you checked your tires and said looks like the tire is a little low, I better check the air. I don't need a sensor to tell me that, especially for over $2,400. Let's repair things that matter, not some gimmick.
