Hello alanasuko, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Our service department recommends following Schedule 2 Maintenance for several reasons. According to the scheduled maintenance guidelines in the owner's manual for your 2020 CX-5, Schedule 2 is recommended if you regularly drive in areas where salt or other corrosive materials are used, drive for extended periods in very cold or extremely hot temperatures, or frequently make repeated short-distance trips. In Pennsylvania, vehicles are commonly exposed to road salt during the winter, as well as significant seasonal temperature extremes. These conditions can affect engine oil performance and contribute to increased wear over time, which is why we recommend the more frequent maintenance schedule. By default, we set the maintenance reminder for 5,000 miles based on these recommendations. However, this is simply our recommendation, not a requirement. We are always happy to adjust the maintenance reminder to 7,500 miles or another interval that aligns with your preferences and driving habits. Our goal is never to mislead our customers, but rather to provide recommendations that help maximize the long-term performance and reliability of their vehicles.
