Service charged $200 me for a diagnostic reading when I came to the appointment tell them what part and code it was already. Wouldn't waive $200. I told them before the appointment not to do that More

Good Morning Mr. Schaffer, Your 2019 Jetta was brought to us after you scheduled an online appointment with the concern noted as, “Code: 164E – Need to resolve.” At the time of check-in, our team recommended diagnostic testing to properly identify the cause of the fault, and the diagnostic charge was reviewed and approved before the work was performed. During our testing, we used Volkswagen’s factory diagnostic equipment to perform an output test of the oil pressure regulation valve associated with fault code P164E. The testing confirmed that the valve was stuck open and not operating as intended. Based on those findings, we provided our recommended repair and associated cost, which you approved. We make every effort to be transparent about diagnostic and repair costs, and our diagnostic charges are clearly identified separately rather than incorporated into or concealed within the cost of a repair. We understand that customers may sometimes prefer to proceed directly with a specific repair rather than authorize diagnostic testing. If that is your preference in the future, we can discuss performing the requested repair without additional diagnostic work, with the understanding that you would assume the cost of that repair if the underlying concern is ultimately found to have a different cause. Our goal is always to provide you with the information necessary to make an informed decision about your vehicle and the repairs being recommended. Sincerely, Ken Benton VW Service Manager
