She informed me that I would have to pay for the oil change. I asked how much , she said $49.95. Little high but I told her to go ahead. When I got home, I compared with the receipt of the last free oil changes and the bill was $39.95. Why the difference in price? Not my fault the last service advisor did not punch the card. I felt that I was treated fairly after I drove from Tybee Island, Georgia for an oil change. More

Short notice "Check Engine" diagnostics I bought a new F250 Diesel pickup in North Georgia and went on a 2300 mile trip on the East coast. When the truck had less than 900 miles, the Check Engine light came on. I called the Ford Assistance number and they said I needed to have it checked very soon. I found the closest dealer on the afternoon of Friday the 13th of October while between Hilton Head South Carolina and Myrtle Beach South Carolina. That dealer was O.C. Welch Ford in Hardeeville, SC. I went to the Service Department and talked to Gary Newman who told me they were taking reservations for the following week. I explained the situation of how far I was from home, how the vehicle was almost new, and how I had to continue up the coast. He seemed glad to check with the Service Manager who said they would work me in somehow. They did, and the trouble had only been that I had plugged a cooler into the power outlet on the back of the console. They reset the Check Engine light alarm and I was on my way. They knew I had not bought the vehicle from them and would likely never be back to their dealership. They seemed more than willing to help and went beyond what most people wold have done. I am very grateful for the help, and told them so. True service is rare but greatly appreciated. More
