BAIT AND SWITCH “Bait and Switch” is defined as a fraudulent advertising claim or sales offer for a product or service that is not available or not for sale at the stated price, made with the intenti fraudulent advertising claim or sales offer for a product or service that is not available or not for sale at the stated price, made with the intention of luring customers who are then offered something else or forced to spend more money to get the same thing. I was a victim of this deception practiced by this dealership. I was lured in by a private email offer (which I had somewhat solicited) that was $2995 less than the price offered on the dealership’s website (the bait). So I made an appointment to potentially purchase the car. As I walked into the dealership, there’s no receptionist. But there was a counter nearby with a couple guys behind it. They were probably sales managers. The counter top is fairly high and the sales managers are standing on some sort of platform allowing them to “look down” on people. I asked if I could speak with the person who emailed me the offer (marketer). I was directed to a salesperson. The salesperson told me I couldn’t meet the marketer. The marketer’s job was to get customers in to the dealership, not to make the actual sale, per the salesperson. Thus, I had to deal with the salesperson. I told the salesperson I was interested in purchasing a particular car being advertised on the dealership’s website. The salesperson quoted me the price on the website, which was $2955 more than the price provided by the marketer (the switch). I told him (salesperson) the price was more than what was quoted by email. He responded that the email quote did not include taxes and fees. This was the salesperson treating me as if I was an idiot. I responded asking “so your quote includes taxes and fees?” He answered that taxes and fees will be added on along with a $2955 fee. He pointed me to a “peace of mind” package. This package is essentially a dealer markup. The package is for a Resistal ceramic coating to be applied to your car. Resistal can be purchased for under $100 and applied yourself. Or you can go to a car retailer to get a Resistal treatment for $300. Anyway, I told him that the $2955 is not a fee, but an additional package that I was not interested in buying. He nevertheless stuck to his story that the piece of mind package was a fee. I guess he didn’t know how to further spin his lies. He said I couldn’t get the car without the package (but he got approval from the sales manager in the ivory tower to reduce the price of that package to $2000). That is, I could not get the car at the price stated by the marketer. CLASSIC BAIT AND SWITCH. Enough of my time has been wasted. So I walked out. More

Our Salesman, Marvin Garcia was excellent, he was courteous, professional and we felt we received a very fair price for our new 4 Runner. The Sales Manager, Sam, was also helpful in negotiating our final agreement. More

I had a bad experience.. my car got scratched up in the fender and a dirty pair of gloves was left inside the engine bay.. they said they will take care of it, but I’m not going near that dealership again.. and from now on i will go to Paul Miller Toyota of west caldwell… They have the best service in the business.. the lounge area is adequate and clean.. and they have complimentary, water and hot coffee if you want.. ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😊😊😊 More
