I TRIED TO BUY CARS TWICE AND THEY DIDN'T MAKE THE DEAL I've visited Pete Moore twice giving them first option to sell me a vehicle. First visit: We were looking for a very specific model and color of tr I've visited Pete Moore twice giving them first option to sell me a vehicle. First visit: We were looking for a very specific model and color of truck and told them we had to be under a certain price. The sales person told us they had exactly what we were looking for, with a few more options, that was in transit to be delivered soon. I told them due to the fact it had several options we didn't want it probably would not meet our price requirement. He said, "come back after lunch and I think we can work a deal". We returned only to have the requirement that he already knew, not met. He then tried to corner us into one on the lot that met our price requirement but not the color. I feel as if he felt we'd settle for something we didn't want once we returned. The most surprising part was how he acted when we walked. He could not believe I didn't fall for his bait and switch. Second visit: We were shopping for the new Corvette. They were low balling me on the trade value (no surprise since about 60% of dealers do this) but the huge disappointment was once we built the Stingray we wanted he mentioned, slightly under his breath, no, that isn't the selling price..... the price shown there is not accurate.... when I asked what an accurate price might be he quoted me $5,000 OVER MSRP. Not even $5,000 over invoice... it was $5,000 over MSRP. We walked out, drove about 30 minutes to Milton and ordered a Corvette at MSRP and got a better trade value. Not a bad return on an hour round trip and a few bucks in gas. We were not asking for crazy low prices.... each deal was reasonable.... I know this because we made purchases both times for what I was asking, at other dealers.... It's just that Pete Moore, the auto dealer most convenient to my location, was asking for too much. If you live in Pensacola don't make a deal at Pete Moore without at least making a short drive to shop around. More
