Hello Tarek, We are sorry you felt that being invited into the dealership to confirm the condition and value of your van was a waste of your time simply because you did not feel you were offered what you expected for your 2008 minivan. As one of the few, official, KBB Buying Centers – a personal inspection is required to validate any value of a trade. This is truly no different than any of the other buying centers, or, national chains. The value of your vehicle issued initially is a “preliminary value” subject to that personal inspection. The reason a personal inspection is needed is that people have different interpretations of the condition questions that are asked. Since, we are a Live Buying Center – and the value is set for your specific vehicle – and, not in generalities – that inspection is important to maximize your trade value. In the preliminary value that you created, some of the damage to the vehicle was somewhat “mischaracterized” and, was not identified to the severity as it actually was. That served to reduce the value – upon the in-person inspection to a value that KBB gave you real time. Please remember, our company does not set those wholesale values – they are set by professional buyers at KBB – the worlds most recognized used car appraisal company for our customers. Part of that complete transparency is why we have such strong customer ratings and satisfaction results. We obviously cannot control the numbers you were provided, by KBB, in advance of our formal inspection – as, that value was predicated based on a condition that was different than the vehicle truly is. It is important to also know that, the vehicle you are looking at our dealership – a 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid – is priced significantly higher elsewhere due to market conditions. Our vehicle is priced nearly $4,000 less that comparably equipped models. Ultimately, the cost to you is the trade difference – and, even with the realistic trade value being less than you anticipated, the overall transaction was thousands less than you would have paid elsewhere. Thank you again for your response. As I mentioned in my reviews elsewhere, your statement that I am referring to numbers provided to me by KBB “in advance” of my visit to you is false. On June 14, 2022, at 6.07pm, while I was in your dealership and seconds before you give me the $3500 offer, I received an email from KBB mentioning that Premier Kia Branford is offering $5,098 for my car, and I reviewed the report on KBB that is solely based on your team’s evaluation and inputs to KBB. This is because I used KBB many times before, so it recognized my car’s vin number when you put it on KBB to do your own evaluation, and accordingly it emailed the offer to me. Apparently, you didn’t expect that to happen, and assumed that I will fall for the trick. You offered me 30% less than the value that KBB offered to you based on your evaluation. Again, the price of KIA is competitive and very fair, and your staff’s courtesy is hard to compete, and I respect that, but I didn’t like the way I was dragged to the dealership without considering or respecting my time, and then trying to underestimate my car’s value by 30%. You didn’t have to do that, you could’ve been transparent and provided to me the value that KBB provided to you. Maybe if I am not trading-in my car, or if you gave me the actual value that KBB gave to you, I would’ve walked out from your dealership with a brand new car.

Thank you. That email you received was from KBB and was a preliminary valuation subject to our inspection. As an official Buying Center with KBB - the value from KBB can only be obtained through our dealership - as, they mandate us to do a personal inspection each time the vehicle is looked at. The reason for this is that they purchase the vehicle - ultimately - and, need to ensure the condition. I am glad you recognized that our pricing of the new car was "competitive and very fair" as you noted. I believe that if you understood the entire process of the trade - would appreciate that part too. We believe in complete transparency on both the sale and the trade side of the transaction. Thanks for your response. Your excuse doesn't make any sense! As you mentioned, KBB evaluates the price based on the user's inputs, and many times that user is the owner of the car, and when they contact the dealership that offered them trade-in value via KBB, that dealership will conduct their own physical evaluation and compare it with KBB, so either they will confirm the original offer from KBB or they will change it based on their evaluation. In your case, YOU were the user who inserted the evaluation parameters on KBB, based on your own hands-on evaluation and examination, and that was the email I received from KBB, and luckily, they included the vehicle details that you inserted, which include tier replacement and other major scratches and dents. So you should accept KBB offer since its solely based on your personal inspection of the car... thus, by cutting KBB offer by 30%, you are actually countering your own offer and questioning your own personal inspection. Thanks for your best wishes, I wish the same for you and your company.
