Soaking Wet Car I went into Route 46 Nissan on Good Friday 3/30 to look at the Maxima. It was raining that day. I ended up leasing a brand new 2018 Nissan Maxima wi I went into Route 46 Nissan on Good Friday 3/30 to look at the Maxima. It was raining that day. I ended up leasing a brand new 2018 Nissan Maxima with the intention of buying the car at the end of the lease. The salesman was made very clear of my intensions to buy the car at the end of the lease. Prior to taking the car home a couple of odd things happened, which I didn’t put together right away. The first thing was that when the salesman opened the door he wiped the seat, which I found odd, but didn’t think much of it. The second thing that happened that was odd was when I got into the car to drive it away the heat was turned up all the way blasting in the car. The heated seats were on high too. The temperature that day was around 50 degrees when I got the car. Hummmmmmmm were somethings done on purpose????? You have probably guessed it by now the car was taking on water. It rained 5 days later and when I got in the car I found my first wet seat and roof. They fixed it though right? Couple of days later after I got the car back from the dealership it rains again and I have water on my seat and water hanging from the moon roof control panel. At this point I have no interest in a car that has been sitting on a car lot all winter collecting water that I plan to purchase at the end of the lease. I have complained to the dealership that I want a different car, but they only want to tell me about all the work that has gone into fixing the car, fixing a car that I only had 5 days! but nothing about getting me into another car. The sales team just keeps avoiding the question and passing me from service person to service person. The sales team avoids my calls. They just keep having service people call me back. I asked the sales manager to speak to corporate. He said it would only take a couple of days to hear back from Corporate, but after a week of radio silence I called Nissan Corp directly to follow-up and Nissan Corp didn’t know what I was talking about. I have asked Nissan Corp to help me with the issue and they are telling me the same song and dance as the dealership, but at least they call me back when they say they will. Woo Hoo. This is my 2nd Maxima and currently both my parents drive Nissans, which I helped them through the sales process. Guess what is going to happen next time we need new car??? This has really been just a terrible experience all around. More

Possibly my worst dealer experience ever. Here’s the short version of my experience: 1. They advertise a used car at a price 2. I confirm by email that they have the car and I specifically Here’s the short version of my experience: 1. They advertise a used car at a price 2. I confirm by email that they have the car and I specifically ask them to confirm the price 3. When I get to the showroom salesman says the price is $2,000 more – the advertised price, he says, is “special” for current customers who have traded in, etc… 4. I say no. Start walking out. Sales manager intercepts me and says they will honor advertised price if, after test drive, I am “serious”. I ask him to confirm the price, which he does.. 5. After test drive, I am ready to buy (right there, in cash). And start paperwork. Sales manager come to salesman’s desk and says that as a special favor it would be only $1,000 over the advertised price he had personally agreed to 10 minutes earlier! 6. I walk out again. Intercepted again, offered advertised price. 7. I don’t know what would have happened next because I kept walking. If you want the long version, here’s what I wrote to them after their automated marketing engine sent me an email asking about my experience. Mr. Conigliaro, Yes, Route 46 Nissan had the car I wanted for my son but the experience was so nasty that I couldn’t bring myself to buy it. Here’s my story. On Thursday, May 17, 2018, I found the car, a 2014 Forester, VIN JF2SJAAC7EH445897, advertised for $11,995 on cars.com, carfax.com and on your own site, route46nissan.com. The price was fine, not great, but I wanted to get this done quickly. Figures 1-3 are screenshots from today, May 19, 2018. I submitted an informational request and received a response from Kristen, Figure 4, confirming availability, price and even possible further incentives. I mailed back some questions, Figure 5, and Kristen confirmed again, Figure 6, that certainly the price was under $12k. I arranged to drive out to the showroom in Totawa and Kristen asked me to meet Jimmy Cauvoto (her spelling) the next morning. Figure 7 . I arrived at the showroom around 10:30, yesterday, May 18, asked for Jimmy, who was expecting me and who then introduced me to Sean. We sat down and Sean informed me after some time that the actual price of the car was $13,995, explaining, regarding the advertised $11,995 price, “that’s a special deal for existing customers tha have traded in something in the last 6 months… whatever.” I said that wasn’t fair and as I was walking out, was told that, ok, they would honor the advertised price if I was “ready to buy.” I was pretty uncomfortable with the ethics of this showroom so I resisted - but Jimmy had reappeared, apologized for the "misunderstanding" and insisted that I try the car and that they would "work with me." I told Jimmy and Sean that I wasn't interested in working on anything and that I wouldn't pay more than the advertised price. Who would? Jimmy then agreed to selling the car for the advertised $11,995. I wasn't feeling so trustful and I asked Jimmy to confirm that there would be no more tricks and the advertised price was what I would pay. He confirmed that. Repeatedly. I test drove the car with Sean and came back to start on the paperwork when Jimmy reappeared again and offered to “split the difference” and increase the advertised price by “only $1,000.” I had definitely reached my limit by then and asked for my credit card back, which I had unwisely given to Sean to “show management” my good faith. After a few minutes I found Jimmy and got my credit card back. As I was walking out Jimmy caught up with me and said that they would sell me the car for the advertised price after all. Unbelievable, right? I was too angry to discuss his offer and, more importantly, didn't want to waste any more of my time. Was I a serious buyer? I left the showroom, calmed down over lunch and called Lynnes Subaru in Bloomfield, whom I had met with earlier that morning, and negotiated a price on the 2014 Subaru Forester I had seen there. It cost more but they didn't change the price in the 15 minutes it took me to get there. By then that was good enough for me. I wrote a check and bought the car. More
