Are you really striving to be the best? We purchased many vehicles over the years from Toyota. This dealership did not standout any better than the others, in fact likely worse. I did an internet search and St. Cloud was rated the highest in MN. We decided to buy our new Highlander here primarily based on this rating although we had good experiences at Brooklyn Center and Maplewood in the past. However, we wanted to see what the best dealership would have to offer. The initial interaction with Carolyn was great. However, from there nothing stood out. When on-site, I questioned one person what makes this dealership standout compared to the others and they responded something like, "good question, I'm not sure. We have a good service department". We knew the car we wanted and as we waited for aspects of the transaction to progress, we were never offered any drinks or snacks. I finally purchased a soda at my own expense while waiting to purchase our new $40k vehicle. During the extended warranty discussion, I signed-up for some items that seemed questionable but once I signed the line we were quickly moved on. The next day I cancelled the warranty and chemical cleaning items after some reflection. However, it was too late to get the overall payment reduced, rather they would just deduct it from my loan. I asked for that in writing to confirm the entire deduction and still have not received anything in the mail or email. I will be following up. Following departure from the dealership, I realized I did not sign the title card or get all items out of the car. I was likely nervous as I am during large transactions as this that I do infrequently. No one reminded me to get things from my car that I traded in or to sign the title card. So the next day, I had to drive 40 miles back to the dealership (approx 80 miles round trip), sign the title card, and retrieve my things. I know some dealerships, that would deliver those items to you since they did not think to remind you before leaving the dealership. Especially, signing the title card or give something in return for this miss. During the negotiations: I was provided an email upfront that reflected all rebates and the total cost of the car. When I worked with the sales agent at the dealership the cost of the vehicle was approximately $750 more than the emailed price. I was told that I had to finance through Toyota to get this price but that was not in the email communication. I was also told Toyota has the lowest interest rate. However, Spire was 2.9% which was lower than Toyota. I ended-up going with Toyota to get the $750 off. This was awkward as I could have paid cash for the vehicle. The Extended Warranty: The next day I cancelled the extended warranty and during my discussions I was sent a cancellation form. The form indicates Send Refund To: with a slot for customer. However, I must provide proof that I paid my trade-in car loan off. I had already given that document to the salesman. Instead of the dealership recognizing I would need this, I had to contact the salesman again to get a copy of my lien release which they kept. I was sent a cell phone picture of it without anything further, just a picture giving me the impression that I was taking too much of their time on this $40k purchase. Based on my experience, I will not be purchasing another car at this location. The people working here seem to want to provide standard or expected customer service but not exemplary service. I'm quite disappointed when this should be a very exciting experience. I usually do not write these lengthy reviews but it makes me feel better and possibly will help the dealership make some improvements in their customer service. I realize Covid-19 imposed some challenges but I would not use this as an excuse. More
