In May 10, 2021 I test drive a 2018 certified 4Runner with Jason Fleming. I like the vehicle and pointed out some scratches and a broken blinker on the passenger rear view mirror. Jason told me the scratches could be easily buffed out and said he would report the rear view mirror to his Manager. He said that it could not be sold as certified with the blinker that way. Over the course of a few days we texted back and forth with me asking about the repair. On Saturday, May 15th, I asked if the repairs had been made and if so, I would like to pick up the car and drive out to show my wife in Frisco. He said the repairs had not been made but he could let me drive the car by filling out a couple forms. It was a busy day juggling two kids and driving out to Rockwall and back but we arranged fir me to come out. I spent a bit more time than I had said working with my bank to get the financing taken care of. When I arrived I was planning on dropping my personal info and getting back to Frisco so I could drop my son with my wife as they had something to do and letting her checkout the 4Runner. However, to my surprise, Jason and his manager had different plans. They wanted to work the deal right then and there. Which reluctantly (because I needed to get back to Frisco), I sat down with him. The car had a sticker of $41,455. There was also another sticker that showed $899 for Preowned Vehicle Advantage program. That was for window tenting, dent repair, tire and wheel warranties. On the website the vehicle said $41,455. No mention of MANDATORY additional fees. Also, I had asked about this before and was told that was an old sticker and was supposed to be included. To my surprise, when the “deal” was presented. They offered sticker price $41,455. They also showed a fee of $1400 some odd dollars on top of toe sticker. I asked what the fee was and was told it was the “preowned vehicle advantage program fee”. I said no, I don’t want that. Just not interested. I marked through the fee and asked for $1000 off sticker and told them I would close the deal right there. I was asking for about 2.5% off plus the repair of the blinker. I was told that the Preowned Vehicle advantage window tint had already been performed. At this point I am now running late for my sons appointment and I was already irked they were trying to do the deal when I had not planned on it and they NEVER told me that was contingent for me driving the car out to my wife. They came back and said they would waive the Preowned Vehicle Advantage program and that they would sell the car as is- no repair of the blinker and they would not budge off sticker. I was now running even later and had no time to deal with this but the repair of the blinker was. Mandatory for me. Those rear view mirrors with blinkers are quite pricey and besides, I was told it could not be sold as certified with the blinker in that condition. I was told they had an offer from another dealer for more than the asking price. Well, I could have lived with the price that was just an ask. However, not repairing the blinker which is required to be functional and working in order to meet CERTIFIED status was not acceptable. 1. Do not believe the salesmen at ROCKWALL TOYOTA. Lies:a) preowned advantage program should be included now. B) listed as an option out to the side on a separate sticker c) they will repair something for you if you buy the car ( for additional money! D) car can’t be sold as certified when safety features aren’t operational. 2. Watch out for deceptive practices. The price on the website and on the sticker is not the price. You have to add additional fees (Preowned Vehicle Advantage Program). Who knows what else they might try and throw in. Lastly, and perhaps the most deceptive of all is the fact that the sticker on the car stated the price fir the Preowned Vehicle advantage program was $899. But when they create the deal sheet the raise the price over $500! If you have to deal with these guys, go in on guard- else they will smile and glad hand you as they slide whatever they can in on you. More
