1st routine 5K service on the 2012 RAV4 (used the online appt maker; terrific!); excellent handling as always, and when I missed the PA page (kibitzing with other staff that are more like friends now) that appt maker; terrific!); excellent handling as always, and when I missed the PA page (kibitzing with other staff that are more like friends now) that the car was done, Matt rang my cellphone to let me know the car was finished and washed. Got home to find a reminder call from Sue making sure I knoew I was due for the 5K service...how much better can this facility get? More
Had a run flat tire blow out on a Sunday evening. I was from out of town and travelling with three small children. My car was towed to Toyota of Scranton and left in the 3rd parking spot directly outside from out of town and travelling with three small children. My car was towed to Toyota of Scranton and left in the 3rd parking spot directly outside the service garage doors. I got a hotel room for the night and then left a message for the service department so hopefully they could work on it first thing in the morning. The next morning, I called after 8AM to make sure someone got the message. Though the answering service was turned off, nobody answered the phone. It took two additional calls to get someone and at that point they could not confirm the message, but transfered me to Matt. He said he would look into it and call me "right back". When I hadn't heard anything in a half hour I called back. Matt then told me he "walked the entire property" and could not find my car. So now I'm thinking my car has been stolen and Matt decided not to call and tell me. I pressed to have him be sure and told him it was directly outside the garage doors. He put me on hold and came back shortly and told me it was there and "they must have moved it". When I strolled back to the dealership and my car was sitting in the same exact spot the tow truck driver left it, I realized Matt must either be a liar or stupid. I was told I couple of times that it would be looked at shortly, but I witnessed between 10-15 cars drive directly into the garage for their service to start. I was tempted to ask for my keys and do the same. I realized they were busy (more on that later) and people had appointments, but anyone with a family, or a hint of common consideration, would not have made an out-of-towner with small children wait longer than necessary and probably even would have gone the extra mile to get them on their way. The only person who was friendly was the shuttle driver who drove me back to the hotel so I could take diapers back for my son. He told me the service department was busy because "they always overbook the morning" and more so that day because they were having a dealer meeting there and wanted to look extra busy. I was there for four hours to get one tire replaced. I believe you can have a good experience stemming from a bad situation. This definitely was not one of those times. This is exactly the sort of service that drives car owners to the local mechanic once the warranty expires. More

Once the service was begun, it was recommended that we also have throttle work done. Made sense. Agreed to do so. We were greeted and assisted by at least 6 different staff members. Cannot remember who each one was! They greeted us at the service garage's open door and welcomed us and our 2 Australian shepherd dogs into the check-in area and waiting room. We got to watch the Olympics on a large screen tv as well as visit with other customers who love dogs! They and we chatted. A floor cleaner gave us a paper towel on which to set our dogs' water bowl (upon our request), so that we would not mar the beautiful wooden floor. So many of the staff were kind and polite to us and to our pets! We had a great time there! The work took approx. one hour. We now have confidence that our truck's battery will not die on us. The new tune up should improve our gas mileage. Toyota Scion could not have treated us more nicely or efficiently. Bravo to them! In a previous year, Toyota Scion bought back our 1998 Toyota Tacoma Pick Up truck. We are grateful that Toyota has stood behind its products. Our neighbor has a Chrysler Jeep. The design of its frame has led to premature frame rust in its corners. Chrysler is NOT standing behind this specific Jeep, so our neighbor, tho' he has only 30K miles on his Jeep (a 2006?), now has a "worthless" vehicle, as far as used cars go. He had to order, pay for, and have replaced the parts that have rusted out. He wishes that HE had bought a Toyota instead. Why is Jeep not plastered all over the national news re: this issue? More
