In early 2009, both my husband and I financed 2009 scions. I continued to take my vehicle in for maintenance and service. In late 2011, I leased a 2011 rav4. At the time, the dealership worked with me to get me into the lease- for which I was super thankful. In mid 2013, I had an email exchange with Ron Jackson in hopes of trading in the Rav4 early for a less expensive vehicle. He and I exchanged a few emails and he quickly concluded that based on my then finances, getting a different vehicle was not a viable option. He suggested contacting Toyota of Wallingford closer to the end of my lease term. Which leads me to today's email. Three weeks ago, I met with Dan Roberts and began what seemed to be a promising transaction for a 2005 Toyota matrix. Unfortunately, a deal was unable to be made. The fact that a deal could not be made is not the cause of my dissatisfaction. The lack of communication and inconsistent, at best, follow up is the reason for this email. To make a long drawn out story short, for a combination of reasons, the financing was unable to be approved. Toyota of Wallingford has won accolades for outstanding service. The website touts the Wallingford difference-"providing service that will make you say WOW"! I said WOW, but not for a good reason. I ended up basically chasing Dan for information- I left him several voicemails- on his cell phone and office number- all but one went unreturned. I sent at least seven text messages, of which he replied to two. I completed my part of the bargain- which was to work with my insurance company to fix a chip in the windshield. I followed up with him to confirm each step of the claim till it was complete. He told me, on the phone once that he would call me later and via text that he would call me "in a few" or he's going to talk to finance and try to work something out & "text me when he gets in(to the office) - never to hear from him. I literally had to send multiple texts or call at least twice before getting a reply. The bottom line is that I recognize my credit qualifies as below average- which makes it more challenging to close a deal at the rate I hoped for. Frankly, I feel I was treated as a below average customer. If the deal wasn't able to be approved, all I ask was a direct answer. Which I did ask for- both via voicemail and text- and eventually, I got tired of hoping and waiting to get an answer, so again, I called Dan, left him a voicemail and said forget the deal. I sent a follow up text saying the same and asked how to get refunded the deposit I left two weeks ago. He promptly replied to that message- saying he will get a check cut for me. That was the last I heard from him- no sorry this couldn't work out, etc. 1) prior to this interaction with Dan, i was a loyal Wallingford Toyota customer. I even said to myself, ok, if the matrix deal doesn't close, i will look at Wallingford toyota's inventory again in a few months- when the rav4 lease is closer to the end and/or when i have a larger than $1500 down payment. Because of his inconsistent and haphazard communication, I've lost all interest in ever leasing or buying another vehicle from your dealership. I know I don't bring a lot of revenue to your business, but I did bring loyalty - just shy of 10 years. 2) hopefully Dan will re-consider the way he communicates with customers in the future. No is not a bad word- people will respond better to directness rather than being avoided/ignored. 3) I sent a message to the customer service manager as well as the dearlership manager over a week ago, expressing my experience - to date, no reply received - not even a simple we are sorry to lose your 10 year business. 4) I left a $500 security deposit three weeks ago and am still waiting for a refund - I am confident I will receive the refund, but my question is how long will it take? I recognize he has a job- which is to sell and is busy. But so am I. I work full time and have a family. It doesn't take more than a few seconds to type up a text with a direct answer. Or better yet, follow up when he said he would. We exchanged a few pleasantries in person and over the phone. I frankly didn't expect much except from him except to follow through on his word - his word of saying he was going to call or text with additional/follow up information. Even if the answer is no or I don't know yet. Anyway, I normally only take time to write positive feedback. But this struck such an unprofessional chord with me that it totally turned me off from ever considering doing business with your dealership again. It may seem small- and perhaps it is to most folks. But to me, following through on your word- a promise to call or text, especially when a business deal is attempting to be reached, is of paramount importance. More

When looking for a used car, I trebled to many different dealerships and Toyota of Wallingford was by far the best! Everyone in the dealership was pleasant, helpful and concerned with my needs regardless of dealerships and Toyota of Wallingford was by far the best! Everyone in the dealership was pleasant, helpful and concerned with my needs regardless of the fact I was already working with a sales rep, Bill. I was able to get everything I wanted without paying an extreme amount if money and was able to stay within my budget! For buying my first car I'm glad I chose Toyota of Wallingford because the entire dealership was FANTASTIC!!! More
