Happy first time Honda buyers I started looking for a new car after driving my previous car for 12 years. I wanted to look at small SUV type cars for the flexible hauling options o I started looking for a new car after driving my previous car for 12 years. I wanted to look at small SUV type cars for the flexible hauling options over a sedan. After trying a number of vehicles and feeling discouraged that I would find one that fit me and felt safe when I drove it, I decided to try a Honda HR-V and Fit. I went to Wilde because it was close to my house and the new dealership looked like it had a lot to offer. I met John Belkin outside as soon as I got out of the car and he said he would be happy to help me. I explained that I had a visual issue needing to have certain lighting on the dashboard to be able to see the speedometer and gear especially. I also told him that since my car was 12 years old it would take a bit to get comfortable with all the new technology. John was very good at explaining and demonstrating the features of each car. Although I was nervous to try driving the cars, John made me feel comfortable in doing so. After my test drive, I felt the HRV was finally the car for me. I came back in about a week to have my husband drive it as well. He was cautious about buying a foreign car and expressed his concerns to John. Again with great patience John explained the features of the HRV and addressed my husbands concerns. The next day, we were able to work out a very fair deasl with John and purchased the car. Throughout the process, John was attentive and worked to make us feel comfortable with purchasing the new car. Additionally, the other staff at the dealership were attentive to us and each person we dealt with was very helpful, personable and made us feel that we were now a part of a special club, the Honda owners club! Thank you to John and all of the staff at Wilde and we are looking forward to a new relationship with your dealership! We would definitely recommend John Belkin and Wilde Honda dealership in Madison as the best experience we had in our long car search! More
Great experience, wouldn't recommend anywhere else. Mike Wills was the all-star salesman. He is the Don of Honda in Wisconsin, quite possibly of the entire Midwest, and that puts him high in the running Mike Wills was the all-star salesman. He is the Don of Honda in Wisconsin, quite possibly of the entire Midwest, and that puts him high in the running for nationwide domination. He is the ultimate no-pressure guy who wants to chat and hang out to find out what you really need in a car, rather than to sell you something fast to get his numbers up. He knows Honda, and he knows cars in general, and he's happy to share with you stories of other peoples' experiences (good and bad), as well as his own, with Honda over the years. He is transparent and he is mature as a salesperson, and I never got the feeling that he was being anything less than forthright. You know can count on Mike because he has been in the business a long time and it shows. He's calm and patient, and he hears you out, and he asks you questions to help you get thinking about the future and what you might need in 2, 5, or 10 years, to make sure you get the right car today. I was in the market for pre-owned and certified, and Mike knows that everyone shops online for cars now, and that the consumer has basically the same resources as the dealer when it comes to pricing a car and comparing what else is out there. He knows that you will try to come in with NADA or KBB value and talk up TMVs, but in my experience, the pre-owned Hondas at Wilde are already priced fairly, and in most cases, fairly below market and the competition, and so there isn't that immediate sense of "this is too high already, before I even think about some accessories or taxes", and that you have to start fighting back right away. Mike was happy to respond to my emails as I did my research, and he will get you info on cars that aren't even posted online yet, or are just showing up at the shop for inspection, getting you a leg up. Mike will text you and answer any of your questions during off-hours and when he's not on the clock, and he'll get you the info you need when you need it. I never once got the feeling that Mike was just doing this for a sale or for a good review. Mike did not make the buying process feel competitive; he was clear about the level of interest in certain cars from other buyers, and he was helpful in predicting if/how the price and value of a car might change over time. Mike and Wilde East Towne will let you take out a car that you are interested in to see if it fits your life, even letting you take it overnight. When it comes to buying and closing a deal, Mike is upfront about what he thinks management will do for you (how low they might go, what else they might throw in to the deal, etc.) and he has a "you don't know if you don't ask approach", which basically means you tell him what you think is reasonable, and he'll go ask the management for you. Other car dealers and salesman take the "you are insulting us and you don't know anything" approach, and send the management in to destroy any hopes of leniency. I was able to get decent savings and a few accessories included because Mike said to just try and see what the manager would say. And, when I had to come back the next day to wrap up a few paperwork items, Mike was there to hang out and chat while I waited for the forms to get done. He even texted me earlier in the day telling me when they wouldn't be busy so that I could come in and not have to wait long! I'm a long time Civic fan, and I have seen first-hand how durable, dependable, and weird-thing-breaking-proof Hondas are, but this experience made me trust the Honda brand just a little bit more, knowing that it can attract people like Mike Wills who believe in the technology and want to help other people find the right car. We were not pressurized to buy any extra accessories/extended warranties or coupon books, rather their staff suggested us what would be the best option for our situation. We also got to know about a options for insurance since this was my first car buying experience. Overall, amazing experience, totally enjoyed it. Would go back when I have to.
