Please understand I am happy with my new RX350H. Nicest car I have ever owned. Worst experience of my dealing with buying a new car and trading in one for the RX350H. I was looking at the RX350 and later they showed me the Hybrid. They had the RX350 listed for sale at a reduced price of 51,000. Indicated the Hybrid was 2000.00 more. That would have made the Hybrid around 53,000. This is where I feel they really took advantage of me. Not paying attention what they were doing to me really hurts. They started with the sticker price. 58,000, then only gave me 10,000 for my car was a huge slap in the face. Then, of course, they push for more warranty dollars. I took the lowest warranty, just to get the guy off my back. I kept telling him I didn’t want all what he was offering. Told him I was paying cash. Told me I could put that money in a CD and make enough to make the 5 plus interest rate to be almost 0. I really hate how stupid I got led into a bad deal.. Also, I feel like they were not fair at all with what they gave me for my 2016 Ford Explorer Limited. It was in great shape for the age of it and the original offer was 8900 dollars. They then came up to 10,000.00. At this point, I just wanted to get the heck out of there. My son called back the next day to try and buy it and the price was 16,600.00 plus! Am I happy with the dealership? NO. Would I recommend this dealership to anyone? NO.. Would I recommend a Lexus RX350H to anyone. YES. Bottom line, this dealership took advantage of me in several ways and it hurts. I am 83 years old, probably will be the last new car I will ever buy and it has left a bad taste in my mouth. Having purchased dozens of vehicles in my life, including multiple vehicles in Florida as a Michigan resident, this was hands down the most difficult transaction due to mixed messages, poor communication, an multiple vehicles in Florida as a Michigan resident, this was hands down the most difficult transaction due to mixed messages, poor communication, and the inability and/or unwillingness of the dealership to do what it said it would do. Specifically, after telling me that they would not lose my business over the "Advantage" fee, they later indicated that they could not remove the fee. After telling me that they would deliver the vehicle, they claimed that they "legally" couldn't do so. Of course, there is no law prohibiting doing so. They subsequently indicated that they would pick me up and take me to the dealership to close the transaction and deliver the vehicle. They later were unable to do that either. Despite having never asked me how I would be paying for the vehicle, they refused to close the transaction if I was financing through a third-party lender and not through them. They refused to accept a cashier's check if the funds were from a third-party lender or if it required them to place a lien on the title for the benefit of that lender. After I then told them that I would pay via cashier's check or by wire transfer with no lender, I was told "You paying cash has really thrown us for a loop." Imagine that, when paying with certified funds becomes a problem because the dealer is upset they will lose out on the revenue stream from financing. All told, this was an incredibly frustrating transaction. As the current owner of a Lexus and having owned several in the past, this was not the experience I have come to expect from Lexus dealerships. Lexus of Sarasota fell well short of expectations. Based on this interaction, I cannot recommend them to others. I'm confident that Lexus of Sarasota will respond to this review by saying that this was a difficult transaction because I was an out of state buyer. I have purchased enough vehicles in Florida as a Michigan resident to know that there was nothing unique about my cash transaction. Hopefully, if the dealership responds they'll simply apologize by saying that they fell well short of expectations and that they wi review their processes in order to improve in the future. More
