Took my new Mazda x5 in for an oil change this past Saturday - made appt. online - was very easy. When I arrived, the place was very busy. I thought it would take forever but they had my oil changed & washed my car in about 45 min. I was impressed!

WORST EXPERIENCE!!!! - StephanieS

If I could give zero stars I would! This is the WORST place to take your vehicle to have it worked on! I dropped it off on May 4th because my check engine light was on. I had already replaced pretty much everything in the vehicle but the light was still on. I was tried of throwing parts and money at it so I decided to take it there since Mazda's are their specialty (Or so I thought). They wanted to change everything that I had already replaced (turbo, timing chain, valve cover, gaskets, bolts, etc) Originally they wanted to charge me over $5,000. After several back and forth conversations they said the check engine light was on because the timing was off and I needed a new valve gasket. They told me my total was $1,437.55 before I came to pick up my vehicle. On May 20th I was told I could come pick up my vehicle. Upon arrival they charged me $1,617.51 but assured me my check engine light was off and everything was fixed. On my way home, my vehicle started pouring smoke out of the hood an my check engine light came back on! I took my vehicle back to the service center. They tried to tell me that the smoke was residual oil from where they worked on it. I told them that is not what is wrong with it and that something was messed up! After having it a few more days they informed me that my valve cover was cracked and was going to charge me $499.66 to fix it. I refused. They had worked on the valve cover gasket and had done something wrong to cause it to crack. They refused to own up to their mistakes. They were very rude and tried to say it was my fault that it was cracked. On May 28th I had a tow truck pick up my vehicle. I had the person who had replaced the parts before I took it to Mazda to look at it. The Mazda Service Center had not installed the valve gasket or the cover properly. It was completely busted and laying sideways. The person who had previously worked on my vehicle had marked every bolt and piece as they were replaced with pink paint. All of the paint was still on everything the Mazda Service Center had claimed to have replaced, including the timing chain and cover! They charged me for things they didn't even touch! If they would have looked at it, they would have clearly seen they pink markings. So now I am over $1,617.51 short, my check engine light is still on, and my car is in WORSE condition than it was originally. WORST experience Iv'e ever had!!!

Beware! Terrible dealership! Once you walk out the door they do not know you. I wrote a previous review and the dealership answered that I was not a customer..lol They know exactly who I am and which vehicle I am writing about. If major problem had happened after 6 months or so, I would have not been as upset. Buying a used car is always a risk...but not after only driving 4 times to grocery store close to house. I at least expected a break with repair costs. They not only refused to work with me on this but wanted to charge over double the repair costs estimated at other service garages. Service department very rude when discussing on the phone and he refused to even give me his name. Said he did not want his reputation ruined. They want to know MY name when I call them but refuse to let me know who I am talking to when calling them.

Can’t speak for buying a car but I can definitely say the service department is a joke. Based on this event we will never buy a car here. They had my car for over 2 months with no communication. Me or my wife would call about a once a week for an update and they’d tell us they needed to speak with their regional service manager about a noise issue from the right rear suspension. On and on this went, literally for 2 months. At some point they blamed the part they needed being on backorder. They made us pick up the car before hurricane Dorian for liability reasons and a week and a half later called to say this magical part had arrived. Turns out it was a shock and a spring. The most basic of suspension components. It took almost 3 months to decide to replace those parts? Seriously? I pick it up feeling hopeful that this frustrating saga is over with and the issue is fixed. Nope. Worse than before. Go back by and Jay (who is a nice guy) promises me they’ll get it taken care of. I send a video of the noise issue plain as day. I wait over a week and call back in on a Monday after once again having heard nothing from them. Jay tells me I need to speak with the service manager, Jennifer, but she’s at lunch and he’ll have her call me back. Call back Friday afternoon (exactly two weeks later) and speak with him. He puts me on hold to go find her. Comes back and says “I know we both heard the sound in the video, but she can’t hear it.” Basically, she won’t even show me the decency of taking my call. I’ve been beyond patient up until this point with their many shortcomings. He asks me to bring it back in and go for a ride along with both the tech and her. I’m now 3 months in to this issue and 2.5 months without the car. I have no more patience left for them and their inability to replicate the noise, when I can replicate it with ease every single day. The video I was courteous enough to record demonstrated the sound over and over again in succession. I’m now going to Kia corporate and will be working with the mid-Atlantic rep to pursue a resolution as well as file a warranty repair failure complaint against Kia of NB.

Worst service department of any dealership i have had experience with. They service so many cars you may wait days just to get an appointment and your car might sit there untouched for a few more days. Everytime you call you have to leave a message as no one who can give you an update answers their phone or calls you to let you know. They also do their best to keep from repairing anything covered under warranty.

In short, the new management (Pat Gomes) at Southern States Mazda exhibits lack of care for his customers by not following up, ignoring communication, and misleading customers rather than providing honest, reliable information. On 5/22 Pat Gomes said he'd get back with me by 5/27 regarding a feature the dealership never included in my car but should have been per the sticker label. For over a month I called and reached out with I reached out with 4 emails and never heard back. Although I was being directly and repeatedly ignored by Pat, who promised prompt help, I remained hopeful and went on site to speak to Pat Gomes directly. When I did, Pat simply gave me the standard Mazda customer service phone number, stating that I would need to speak with them and they would then speak with him to get this issue resolved. I did question the validity of his statement since that information would have been an easy resolution to provide during the 5/22 on site conversation or in response to any of my emails, but I remained hopeful and trusted Pat. Unfortunately, that trust was misplaced. After 40 minutes on hold with Mazda customer service spoke to Pat Gomes and he told them that, despite seeing the feature listed in my MSRP sticker, that he would only help if I were to provide proof of having reached out about the feature shortly after the purchase date. The Mazda service rep informed me that honoring the goods purchased is entirely up to Pat / the dealership since the warranty would cover malfunction rather than warranty and that Mazda could recommend the Pat how to treat customers but cannot force them to do so. Not only did Pat mislead me by saying Mazda had final say, he also wasted another hour of my time rather than having an honest conversation with me while I was on site. Reaching resolution required a lot of time and effort and could have been avoided with some basic customer service training. I do not consider ignoring communication and misleading customers to be a quality and admirable customer experience. It's certainly one will opt out of in the future and will advise others to do the same.

waiting 4 repair 9 weeks & counting - FIXMYKIA!

Brought my Optima in for repair ( needs heater core) the week before Memorial Day; it was there over a week and they never got to it since they only have 1 mechanic who can do the work. I was told they would call me to get it in ..............still waiting today's date 7/19/16. SO WHERE DO I GO TO HAVE MY KIA FIXED??

Poor service after the sale on known defect - New Mazda owner

I've purchased three vehicles from Bob King and the Sales process was great (thank you, Michael Warren!). However, my Service experience is another matter. My 2016 CX5 brakes squeaked from Day1. 1st svc visit = "dust". 2nd svc = "special grease". 3rd visit = "cannot duplicate" and "you must have sensitive hearing" - for a problem that caused me to PARK my new car until it was fixed at 27k miles! Solution: turned "defective" rotors and tried to send me on my way. The right rotor was taken down .58MM (5.8%) or 3.6 times the left rotor. You can see and feel the chattering on the rotor. HOW ABOUT REPLACING DEFECTIVE ROTORS so I don't have continual problems? Hopefully Steve Morris, Mazda District Service Rep, will agree with me that parked Mazdas aren't good for business. Otherwise, I will gladly go back to my problem-free Subaru. P.S. Mark Jones, wish I could be a fly on the wall the day your wife is told she has "sensitive hearing".

My wife and I bought a Mazda 3 from Independence Mazda. They were very helpful in the sales experience we also bought Gap coverage and maintenance agreement because it was a used car. In January 2017 the car was involved in a total loss accident . After the insurance company paid off their cost of the car there was still a balance of 2700.00 . No problem right we bought the gap coverage . Wrong ! What a nightmare getting all the paperwork together for the gap coverage and the many phone calls to American Financial who we bought the gap coverage from through independence Mazda in the end we receive a whole 51 dollars from that coverage. But it didn’t end there. we were also entitled to a refund from the Maintenance agreement . Nightmare 2 we were told we needed to contact the Dealership {independence Mazda} to cancel the agreement and they would contact American Financial and american financial would tell them how much to refund. After several phone call to the dealership and speaking with the finance guy and the manager. I was told it was taken care of . Wrong a month or so later after speaking with the bank to see if they had received the refund check I was told it was not there yet. I called independence Mazda several times finally they gave me the number to American financial I call them and found out that the owner of the car had to sign the form to cancel the agreement which we were told on more than one occasion by independence Mazda that we did not have to sign . (don’t know their own system) got that done also found out that Independence Mazda is actually the ones refunding the money . Well it is May 23 2017 and the bank just called me still no refund check from Independence Mazda. I called independence Mazda again spoke to Nick he said he didn’t have anything to do with it after sending to accounting. Nick gave me the number to accounting . I told her the story she ask me if I had spoke to Nick and I told her I just did and he said that he had nothing to do with it after sending it to accounting HUM interesting. Accounting person promise to get check cut. Needless to say I won’t be buying from independence Mazda again

I have a Mazda CX-5. Bought brand new from this dealership. I have always taken my vehicle to their service department for maintenance. Marshall and crew are outstanding. He always explains the work to me and gets me in and out in a timely manner. My neighbor has a Mazda that was bought in Greensboro and they hate taking their car in for service because, even with an appointment, they are sitting there for hours and the service department is always trying to get them to fix something that does not need fixing. Keep up the good work Dick Shirley Mazda Service department!!!!!
