As an out-of-state buyer, I drove 7 hours to purchase a $70k+ pre-owned diesel truck. The vehicle had poor preparation: scratches on clear coat, damaged rim, screw in tire, severely underinflated tires (ca $70k+ pre-owned diesel truck. The vehicle had poor preparation: scratches on clear coat, damaged rim, screw in tire, severely underinflated tires (causing steering shake), sold with low fuel (1/8 tank), and DEF at 3/4 full—"it's not a new car" was the excuse from Bomnin. This is the first vehicle I've purchased that didn't have a full tank upon delivery, and for the $1000 dealer fee, I thought they could have done a better job. I negotiated price down based on condition. Slow-Slow-Slow process, almost 6 hours from beginning to end at the dealership. Struggle session in financing where the unwillingness of the dealer to match an advertised BOA rate with their BOA financing at the dealership was explained as "the dealership has to make money". This was negotiated and magically they matched the advertised rate. Worst part: I explicitly requested (in person and then in emails, including my insurance agent) that DMV paperwork go to my authorized agent for same-day registration/plates, avoiding weeks of delay. They assured me they'd coordinate, but sent it directly to my state's DMV instead. Now, 3 weeks later, no plates, and the temp tags are expiring. To add to this I found out the tags are invalid in my state per my insurance agent! Dealership broke their promise, leaving me at risk of driving illegally. Price was fair after negotiation, but lack of PDI and especially mishandled out-of-state registration made this frustrating. More
