After test driv We choose this dealership because of its good reviews and location. At the beginning our sales person was respectful and low pressure. After test driving, we agreed upon a price, shook on it, and made an appointment the following day to sign papers. The next day we turned in our credit report, agreed on a deposit amount and handed over our credit card. After a long wait the salesman returned (without the credit card) and wrote down a number that was $1200 more than what we agreed upon and said that was what they could do. He acted as if it was perfectly normal to change the price, no explanation, no apology, no returned credit card. After arguing we were rudely told by the general sales manager to go somewhere else if we thought we could get a better deal. There was no explanation of why this happened and we were treated very, very rudely. Only after we called the general manager and explained how we were treated did we get an apology. He did not, however, offer to honor their original agreement. (Both Subaru of Wakefield and MetroWest Subaru in Natick beat their deal by a significant amount. We went with MetroWest an honest, no-pressure, family-run business.) More

If you want to buy a Subaru, go to Cityside I have been involved with the purchase of one Outback and two Foresters within the past three months. My experience shows that not only does the sales I have been involved with the purchase of one Outback and two Foresters within the past three months. My experience shows that not only does the salesman I worked with, Tom D'lesandro, care about his customers, but the rest of the sales force do too. I used Consumer Reports Build-a-Car program, received three offers, and Cityside matched the lowest, as in I asked, they answered in the affirmative, and we moved onto the next topic. Talk about hassle free. It is no surprise that Cityside is the number 2 auto dealer on the Boston's 2014 A-List of auto dealerships and in the top 5 for both the State of Massachusetts and the greater Boston Area by Dealer Rater. We took the car two different times and the team at Cityside never pushed or pressured us while we hemmed and hawed over two weeks and drove other options. They let us arrive at our own conclusion - which was to purchase. We appreciate the low key approach. More

Flavio handled me when I came in a few weeks ago for a test drive; very friendly & low-key. When I called last Sunday to come in (I knew it would be busy) he told me not to worry; I would be taken care of. The GSM Dan Rosengarten greeted me when I arrived; told me Nathan (Junior) Williams had been brought up to speed & would be working with me so I wouldn't have to wait. I knew the model & trim I wanted before I came in. Sure enough, we got right to it; he made sure we were on the same page on the model, then we talked over the pro's, cons and particulars of buying vs leasing. Man, these Subarus are terrific cars. I started looking into them for safety & the all-wheel drive, but the ride, quality & fit & finish is terrific. Anyhow, after working together towards what I felt comfortable with I ended up taking a lease at what I thought was a very fair price. Junior brought the right amount of questions and information and when we were close Dan made a couple of decisions (and helped me out with 1-day loaner) so we closed quickly and painlessly. For delivery the next day they were really busy (the Monday after month-end in the summer peak selling season) but Junior, Dan and John Melvin (finance) continued a really smooth, low-pressure, and satisfying dealer experience for me from start to finish. Before we started I knew about buying cars, but I really didn't know the details about how leasing worked, and everybody contributed to me getting comfortable with that choice. I'm very happy with my new ride and recommend Cityside Subaru to anyone. More

Back in 2010 while searching for a dealership to make purchase of a WRX, I met a surprisingly unique salesman at Cityside Subaru in Belmont. Peter Rosenberg was new to the job, the profession, and the p purchase of a WRX, I met a surprisingly unique salesman at Cityside Subaru in Belmont. Peter Rosenberg was new to the job, the profession, and the product. Four years after the sale of the car, and he continues remembering me whenever I am in for service. During the 4 years of ownership, I was impressed with the service level I have experienced working with Joe Cisek, Nick Karamoutsos, Bryan Drysdale, and the team of first rate technicians - mostly long time employees. Case in point: less than a month ago after having a major accident in my WRX (which was totaled), Joe and Peter jumped right in and within two weeks I was in a brand new ’14 WRX. Car was still at the port, so they lent me a car for the wait period saving me on rental fees. Dan, the sales manager did a nice gesture as well for my inconvenience. I am continually impressed with the car and this dealership in every way. They are efficient, trustworthy, and dependable as well as pleasant to deal with, and I strongly recommend… Thank you Cityside! More

Cityside Subaru came highly recommend from a friend and colleague. This friend and colleague actually made our sales appointment and came along to that appointment to make introductions. That is how we w colleague. This friend and colleague actually made our sales appointment and came along to that appointment to make introductions. That is how we were introduced to Peter Rosenburg. Peter seemed very pleasant and easy to work with. He quickly set us up with for a test drive of a car similar to the one we wanted to purchase - the exact model we wanted was not available for test drive. I really appreciated that we were allowed to take the test drive without the sales person present as it makes for a much more relaxed test drive where one can really get a feel for the car. We returned from the test drive confident in the car we wanted. Working with Peter we came to an agreement relatively quickly and were on our way expecting our new car to arrive in 1-2 weeks. Fast forward to a bit over a week later, we were at the dealership, as requested, to take delivery of our new Subaru. Unfortunately upon inspecting the car we discovered that the clear bra that we had requested be installed had numerous installation defects/mistakes. Also, while I’m not going to make assertions here about who caused the problem, there were obvious moderate to severe swirl marks in the clear coat on the hood of the car, and also, to a lesser extent, above the rear hatch. This is obviously unacceptable on a brand new car, and I made this known as politely as possible to Mr. Rosenburg. As we were walking back inside Peter even mentioned “perhaps we can locate you another car.” After Speaking with someone “in the back,” who I believe was Dan Rosengarten, the Cityside staff inspected the car more closely. I was then informed that while they admitted the Clear bra install was bad, and they would have it removed, they were unwilling to locate me another vehicle and I could take this one or leave it. At this point it was like we were talking to a different person. Peter was very rude and dismissive while trying to remain polite, which just came off as cheap and false. He was all but handing us our old keys and showing us the door. Peter even asserted that I, not we (this was apparently directed specifically at me and not my wife) would never be happy with a Subaru. Peter also stated that all Subarus come “like that.” Angry and frustrated but still wanting a Subaru, my wife and I decided to take a moment alone to look at the car again and think it over. We ultimately decided we would proceed with this car, if Cityside would simply pay for a detailer, other than their in-house staff, to do their best to try to remedy the swirl situation. I expect a job like that would be in the $200-$300 range. When presented with this fair compromise, Dan and Peter responded with an insulting offer to “contribute $25” towards a “receipted” detailing. Add to that the stress placed on the word receipted and it felt even more like they were simply telling us to get lost. Peter did make one last attempt to convince Dan to locate another car for us, at my request, but that request was denied. At this point, as we were leaving, Peter would no longer even look us in the face, he was busy shuffling papers on his desk as we said our goodbyes trying to keep things professional as possible. [TL;DR] I’ve bought quite a few cars in my time. I care for them very well, as we evidenced by my “excellent” condition trades Cityside was only paying me “fair” for. When I buy a new car I expect it to be in NEW condition when it's purchased NEW. Not in LIKE-NEW condition. The simple fact is Cityside attempted to sell me a NEW car that had been damaged while in their care, and when I called them on it, they backed out of the deal rather than doing right by me, their new customer, and even more importantly by friend and colleague, who by their own account has purchased 6 cars from them and referred many others. It's easy to be a good salesperson when your customers are happy, but when you're customers are unhappy, that's when a salesperson shows their true colors. My wife and I still intend to purchase a Subaru; however it certainly won't be from Cityside. We highly recommend you look elsewhere as well. More
