Our apologies but based on the analysis of the service advisor and technician, the damage to the TPMS sensor was caused by impact which is not covered under warranty. The Hyundai of St. Augustine service team.

What about the initial complaint saying my daughter damaged the tire and sensor. It’s always easy to blame someone else so there is no responsibility. I checked with another dealer and with no visible physical damage to the tire, rim or body of the car they would have covered it under warranty and recouped the tire price from the OEM.

That was his guess. My theory was that the TPMS sensor was installed incorrectly causing it to bulge into the tire and over time causing the sensor to break. There was NO sign of impact that could have caused that sensor to break without damaging the rim and there was no sign of external damage to the tire, i.e. scuffs or scrapes that validate his analysis.

In speaking with my service department, your Elantra with the GDI engine can occasionally blow a puff of smoke from the exhaust during times of hard/fast acceleration. This is a normal characteristic of the Elantra GDI engine and doesn't pose any harm to the vehicle. We apologize that our staff didn't explain this to you more clearly.
