JC, Please let me start by apologizing for our poor communication. We advertise our vehicles online and we do have customers from several hours away. What we try to avoid is having a customer drive a long distance to find out the car they wanted to look at has been sold. We also want to make sure that when a customer gets to the dealership, the car is what they expect. My salesperson did a very poor job of communicating this. He should have confirmed the vehicle was available and made sure you had all the information and an accurate description of the car and it's condition. Our normal process is to let the customer know that if the car sells before their appointment, we will contact them so they do not waste their time driving here. Some customers do choose to put a deposit on a vehicle to hold it for them, but most do not. Some customer's expect us to take vehicles off the market until they can come look at it. We operate a lot like when someone is selling a house, we consider a car for sale until we have a valid contract and if we are going to take a vehicle off the market until the details of the contract can be worked out, we will ask for a deposit. Again, I apologize our system is not perfect and we did a poor job of communication. I am sorry it cost us a sale and I have and will continue to address this situation with training. I appreciate you leaving feedback so I can correct the situation and avoid making the same mistake again. Thanks for the resonse, and seeing this as a learning experience. Unfortunately, this tactic is an old tool that dealers have been using for years. 99 percent of the time there is no other person looking at the car. Basically, if a dealer does that, I immediately look elsewhere. It really is a shame though, as were serious about buying the car if everything had worked out. As a matter of fact, when your salesperson did that, we looked elsewhere and found another vehicle that met our needs. That other salesperson did the same thing the night before we were to go there. Needless to say, we cancelled out of that one as well. We aren't in a rush and will keep looking.
