Some context: to me, car-buying is essentially no less than torture. I do not trust car dealers. At all. I had test-driven several different makes of cars at several different dealers in the month before than torture. I do not trust car dealers. At all. I had test-driven several different makes of cars at several different dealers in the month before going to City: Chevys, Cadillacs, Toyotas, and Kias, all dealers with four+ stars and, out of those, only the Caddy dealer had earned my trust. That said, from the moment we stepped into City VW, I knew this would be a different experience. The place was bright and cheery, abuzz with activity, but, at the same time, calm and welcoming. We were greeted warmly by Edgar and asked if we had an appointment. We didn’t, so he proceeded to ask what we were looking for. I wanted to see a Tiguan and an Atlas. He immediately brought us out to the area where they keep the cars…indoors, which is super nice for when the weather is not cooperating and at night, when it’s too dark outside to really see the car you’re hoping to buy. Eddie was so nice and helpful. My back was hurting, so I decided I would not be test-driving any car, but would come back in the next couple of days. Clemente (manager) came out to talk with us and was very friendly and helpful. We came back two days later to test-drive some cars and Eddie was out due to a family funeral, but George and John (manager) were there to help. George could not have been nicer: zero pressure, super knowledgeable, friendly, respectful, and warm. Just a doll! And John was a fast friend! His no-nonsense, down to earth, knowledgeable, and friendly manner immediately put us at ease, earning our trust and getting us excited to buy a car from him. I must admit, I was not an easy customer. I asked them to run the numbers on several cars, which they obliged without complaint or making me feel like I was putting them out. We had already secured financing through our credit union, but we happily gave them a chance to beat the rate. They were honest and upfront about the process. While they were not able to beat it, I had no qualms letting them try. We ultimately purchased a used Atlas on which we got a great deal. The price was well below KBB and the deals they gave us on a couple of extras really made the deal one I was excited to accept. Rubin handled the completion of the deal and he was pleasant and knowledgeable, as well. Finally, Laura was super friendly, always welcoming and ready to help. We will be looking for a car for our son in the next year and I cannot imagine ever going anywhere else to buy a car. Big thanks to George, John, Edgar, Clemente, Laura, and Rubin for making our car-buying experience very much NOT torture! :) More
