One Floridian’s Experience As a newly-christened “customer/vehicle owner”, the words This Patron would use to describe working with personnel from The ZECK Ford/Chevrolet dealer As a newly-christened “customer/vehicle owner”, the words This Patron would use to describe working with personnel from The ZECK Ford/Chevrolet dealerships include… “Professional”, “Responsive”, “Courteous”, “Unpretentious”, “Collaborative”... I’d also readily characterize the folks I worked with as “Thoughtful Hosts” who conduct their business with “Sound Ethical Principles”... ... AND, although the accolades might sound like a relative/in-law or “Paid Professional Spokesperson” (...haha), I can assure the reader that the characteristics just described was a little disarming at the outset of our interactions (particularly, given my past dealings with far too many less-than-scrupulous auto dealers), yet as you’ll read, my negative stereotypes proved quite to the contrary. As I ultimately found the Zeck staff’s/administrator’s conduct comfortingly emblematic of another far more complimentary association… The frequently touted and much-admired “Mid-Western’s Honest Day’s Work Ethos! ... That said, Here’s This Customer’s “Back Story”… You see, I’m a die-hard “Ford Guy” who’d been patiently scouring my local dealer’s inventories and internet advertisements throughout a rather broad geographical area since last December for the “ideally-optioned/reasonably-priced” new or low-mileage/used F150 XLT pick-up… After many hours of hunting and subjecting myself to several less than complimentary sales/marketing practices employed by competing dealership’s personnel in their dealings with other “trucks of interest”, about the time I was ready to throw in the towel, I finally stumbled across what I thought very well could be “The One”... Yet, to compound my growing weariness/distaste for the process, matters were further complicated by the fact that I’d managed to pluck “The One” from out of the electronic ether (i.e., via a fluke-ish “Coming Soon” listing) from a Ford dealership located well outside my initial search radius. To the tune of “a mere” 1,100 miles from where I reside!… A dilemma in various regards, heightened by my ever-present skepticism/discomfort when it comes to the arduous process of purchasing a motor vehicle, even under what most would consider “the best of circumstances”. After all, if I elected to take a stab at this truck, I was left to consider the potential risks of making a bad decision at such a distance away from home that making any attempts to rectify the situation would be exceedingly difficult to accomplish, including the potential of incurring expenses that could trump any sense of enjoyment gleaned from a good outcome... On top of these concerns, I’d do so without the option of exercising the usual opportunities to engage in eyeball-to-eyeball contact with sales staff, an opportunity to preliminarily “kick the tires”/physically test drive The One, etc. etc... Yet, as these sorts of transactions are becoming more familiar in this “Age of Information & e-Commerce” (...and, having a compelling example of what I’d been patiently stalking for months readily available and beckoning), I elected to cautiously march-ahead in the process... As the process tentatively progressed, the more questions/queries I made, and carefully observed how each member of “The Zeck Team” promptly/cordially conducted themselves, my healthy skepticism eased, I grew more comfortable, and I ultimately elected to bite-the-bullet and move forward in arranging the purchase... And, for those of you who are tiring of this “wordy” tome, I’m more than pleased to report my near-seamless, UNQUALIFIED Success! “The Z-Team” (i.e., “TZT”), as I came to refer to the group of individuals I worked with, proved ready, willing, and quite able to employ their skills responsibly and honestly from start-to-finish. To be specific, TZT consisted of Sales/Point-person, Nicole F., supported by her professional cohort @ Zeck Ford (Leavenworth, KS), Internet Sales/Finance Manager, Whitney L., who were thereafter followed by the two professionals most prominent in finalizing the process, Brad C. (Finance Manager) and Ryan B. (General Sales Manager) @ Zeck Chevrolet (Purcell, OK), where I negotiated to eventually take delivery of the vehicle. In working with TZT, I detected no indication of ugly competition or hi-pressure/turf-guarding among these folks. Not only that, each member of TZT did their jobs and shared responsibilities, even when they technically “didn’t have to”... Much to my delight, I came to discover with TZT (... unlike many “pretenders”), the oft-overused axiom “We’re dedicated to ‘Making Things Right’” was not just cheap lip service. My experience is all the more refreshing/pleasing/impressive, in my estimation, if one stops to consider the context of my purchase… For, I was more-or-less an all-but-anonymous “Average Joe” to TZT, who was fortunate to discover online, a very nice, yet USED 2018 F150. A guy who would not very likely be a candidate for “repeat customer” status, particularly given the considerable distance required to travel from my residence in N. Florida to take delivery, not to mention my ever-advancing age placing a limit on the number of vehicles I might purchase in the future… Mine was almost certainly a “one-shot deal” in terms of how TZT approached matters. Despite these factors that didn’t play in my favor (and may very well have negatively influenced how competing dealer’s staff addressed my interests during the previously cited ill-fated examples), TZT treated me like a valued repeat customer. In other words, I can hardly imagine how much better the treatment could have possibly been if I had been “a local” in the market for a much more expensive new vehicle, and one with whom any business would wish to build life-long relations!... From my first contact with Ms. Nicole, to the Truck being shipped between sister-dealerships, to Brad C. working flexibly to iron-out the many details involved in conducting the transaction/financing arrangements with my local credit union loan officer (... AND, being exceedingly patient with at least one of my misunderstandings that caused him more work), to the so-called “little stuff” that measurably added to my overall satisfaction... Including, Brad C. readily agreeing to accept the delivery/watch after an after-market accessory I ordered for the truck a week or so prior to taking delivery, to his unsolicited offer of providing complimentary “shuttle service” from Wil Rogers Int, in Oklahoma City to the dealership in Purcell, OK... (...haha! For that “shuttle”, to those of us who don’t live in these parts, translates into an 80+/-mile round-trip for the Zeck Employee-Reps who were refreshingly on-time at the airport pick-up area & most courteously/cheerfully toted this total stranger to the dealership...). In reflection, this was definitely “NOT TZT’s first rodeo!”... As if these accolades aren’t sufficient, “The Topper” of all examples occurred AFTER the deal was completed and I’m approx 400 miles into my “little jaunt” back home (i.e., to “The Panhandle” people don’t usually think of first)... What started as “a concern” that blossomed in my mind during the first few hours of the drive home, as I was left to appreciate all of the details of the transaction, mentally check-off the numerous gadgets/options I’d identified via electronic review of the window sticker prior to making the offer, and contemplate my on-site inspection of the vehicle before leaving Oklahoma. Overall, pleasant musings that eventually resulted in the identification of one missed detail and sole potential “flaw” with my truck purchase... As unlikely of a possibility as one would have thought, I’d initially overlooked physically verifying one “factory installed“ exterior accent piece, and after the thought nagging at me, I verified the piece had somehow been omitted from installation on the vehicle when I stopped for fuel a couple of hours after making my mental deduction… Though not a true “essential” to the functioning of the vehicle, I duly double-checked its presence on the list of factory/dealer options and though it one of many “bonus selling points” that initially attracted me all the more to the vehicle. As such, throughout the remainder of the drive home, I was left to bouts of internally kicking myself for neglecting my responsibilities and failing to physically double-check for the presence of EVERY Gee-Gaw noted on the window-sticker!... Though I dreaded having to bring this to Brad C’s attention, after-the-fact, I was mentally prepared for the potential unpleasantness that might ensue as a result... As I was putting the old axiom “We’ll Make Things Right” to the test. In sum, the following Monday morning my concerns about Brad C’s potential adverse response to my plight were immediately dispelled!... For, without missing a beat and true-to-form, upon being alerted to my situation, he immediately “Got On It”, behind the scenes contacting his General Sales Manager, Ryan B., who personally contacted me that same afternoon and promptly addressed replacement of the missing item in an effective and decisive manner. So, without reservation, This Customer couldn’t be happier and would unequivocally recommend The ZECK Auto Dealerships by virtue of their staff’s exceptionally strong service on my behalf... Absolutely Stellar Work and “KUDOS” to TZT!!!... Most Respectfully - CWS... More
