This is my third visit to the Hyundai service center, and unfortunately, each experience has been worse than the last, something I didn’t think was possible given how bad my previous visit was. I brought my car in after noticing a strong, unusual smell, which my husband identified as a bubbling battery, clearly a serious safety concern. I was initially told to wait until Monday to bring it in, despite the potential fire risk. When I insisted on bringing it in on Friday, there were no loaner vehicles available. I had to rent a car for four days before one was eventually provided (which was nice as it took me 5 months to get reimbursed from Hyundai when I last rented a car during service) My vehicle remained at the service center for two weeks. At no point during that time was I informed that the repairs would not be covered under my extended warranty. When I questioned this, I was told they would waive the diagnostic fee and could reinstall the damaged battery if I preferred which is not a reasonable solution. My charging port, which was covered under warranty, was replaced for the third time. While I appreciate that it was handled, having the same issue occur repeatedly is concerning. When I picked up my car, it had been left outside (I typically keep it garaged), was extremely dirty, smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, and had only a 16% charge. I do not smoke, so this was especially frustrating. Overall, this has been an incredibly disappointing experience marked by poor communication, lack of transparency, and unacceptable vehicle care. I will not be purchasing another Hyundai vehicle in the future solely to avoid dealing with this level of service.
