Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with Brent Brown Toyota. I have nothing bad to say about the sales staff. I feel like they were friendly, genuine, and overall good people. It is true that I bought an “as is” car, and Brent Brown Toyota has the right to exercise the terms of the contract. Having said that, I had hoped the management would choose a win-win scenario rather than the one that they have chosen. My primary reason for purchasing the “as is” car was that it was advertised as having less than 98,000 miles on it. I thought I could over look some of its deficiencies, believing it had a good engine. While driving home, the ABS light came on. When I got home I begin to notice several other major issues. The next day I returned the dealership hoping that if I bought another used car from Brent Brown Toyota they would be willing to transfer the amount I paid for the car over to another car. I recognized that I would have to eat the doc fee and sales tax as well as a second doc fee, sales tax and additional to other fees associated with the second car. I was also willing to pay the full asking price on another car that was on the Brent Brown lot even though it was $1,500 over the highest blue book price I could find. The dealership would have been made whole and would lose nothing. I was disappointed that managements response through the sales staff was, “Well, now that you’ve told us there’s problems with the car, we can’t give you what you paid for it yesterday.” Wow. You can only imagine how it felt as I drove home for the second time and noticed the odometer was not working. The primary reason for me buying the car (low miles) is now in question. For all I know it could have an additional 10k, 50k, or 100k above what was advertised by Brent Brown. I have no idea how I will be able to sell this in vehicle in good conscience to another person. I have no idea how I can even trade it in based upon the mileage. Once again Brent Brown Toyota stood to gain from the proposal to transfer what was paid to another vehicle. I am puzzled as to why when the dealership would still come out in a favorable position they would choose to exercise the full weight of the contract. Having said, it is my fault for entering the contract and I will have to deal with the consequences. More
