When I purchased my BMW, I was told (Exact words) certification adds an additional year to the manufacturers warrantee extending it to May 2022. On March 8th I took it in for an oil change and to hav certification adds an additional year to the manufacturers warrantee extending it to May 2022. On March 8th I took it in for an oil change and to have the problem of false notifications to "CHECK COOLANT LEVEL" corrected. Their diagnosis verified that I have been getting these notifications, but they were unable to find the cause. My bill for this visit contained a charge of $82.50 for this service which would have been fully covered under the terms of the original warrantee. When I questioned this charge, I was told the BMW warrantee was not extended, but a service policy was in place that does not cover diagnostics if a repair is not made. So the bottom line is I was charged $82.50 because AutoHaus did nothing to correct a problem that their diagnostics proved did exist. When a vehicle is brought in for warrantee service during the certified period the owner should be advised of the possibility of additional charges and car salespersons should not tell buyers that certification extends the BNW warrantee an additional year. More
