Bill Utter Jr. was 14 when he started working at Bill Utter Ford. With his new driver's license, Bill began delivering parts for the family dealership. Bill and Virginia Utter opened the doors to their new Ford dealership in 1956 in downtown Denton. It was the beginning of a family tradition of offering the best Ford products and services to North Texas families.
In the early days, they were simply concerned with making ends meet from day to day and treating each customer with courtesy and respect, as they would any friend. Many of those customers became lifelong friends, and the business grew from one referral to another to serve generations. After taking over 2 hours to do an oil change, I found a leak. When I took my vehicle back (another 1.5 hours) it was dismissed as no big deal. "Sorry our employee was just lazy." Called this morning to see about getting flat tire fixed, bought my new f150 at dealer in Richardson. Also bought 60 mo wheel and tire warranty. Was told I had to take truck to original dealer to be fixed. I knew this was BS. Got a call back telling me I could take to any Ford dealership, so I brought it in. Told it would take 1 - 1.5 hours. Actually took 2.5 hrs for a flat repair and rotation. Then the bill wasn't right, had to convince them (after getting the warranty repair approved) not to charge me for it! Very frustrating, won't be returning! More
