Great Car Buying Experience! I just purchased a 2015 Honda Civic Coupe from Dover Honda. It was by far the best buying experience that I have ever had! I worked with Sue Garland a I just purchased a 2015 Honda Civic Coupe from Dover Honda. It was by far the best buying experience that I have ever had! I worked with Sue Garland and she was tremendous from start to finish. I test drove both the Civic as well as a new Mazda 3 to compare. After spending a few days to weigh the pros and cons of both cars, I decided on the Civic. I emailed Sue and told her that I was interested to begin discussing purchasing the car, and asked that before I put a deposit down on it, if she could email me an Out the Door price including the car itself, as well as all administration fees, Maine title Fee, destination, ect... She replied back in literally less than 10 minutes with an amazing quote that was quite a bit lower than both Edmunds and KBB true market values for this area. This included all fees requested with zero surprises at the end. Plus I got the 1.9% financing as well. Taking delivery was also a very pleasant experience too. Sue again was great in showing me how to pair my phone to the car, introducing me to the service dept, etc.... The car was flawless, very clean and very well detailed. I am very pleased with the experience and highly recommend Sue and the Dover Honda team! I couldn't be happier! Don More
Excellent help with no "games" My wife and I were recently at Dover Honda to replace an old junker and expected to negotiate and haggle and overall hate the car buying experience. My wife and I were recently at Dover Honda to replace an old junker and expected to negotiate and haggle and overall hate the car buying experience. We were greeted by Micheal Martin, one of the salesmen and let him know right off that we were on an early mission just to look at cars and were not buying that day. He still got the car we were interested in and gave us the full tour on how everything worked and answered all our questions. We then got an early quote (he has our number and I was expecting endless calls but we told him we would be back when ready and he did not bother us at all). After my junker finally gave out about a month later we went back to see Micheal and he took us for a test drive then worked with us to get a very good price (very low according to truecar). We were looking at the very base model CR-V and he never once tried to convince us to "upgrade" and only pointed out missing things when we asked about them. In the end we purchased a different car based only on our preference of the car itself, but the dealer we saw for the car we did buy was no comparison. He bothered us often at home, was not as knowledgeable about the car and was unreasonable about the price. We kept saying we wished that Micheal worked at the dealership we were at so we could enjoy buying the car. Our next car will probably be a Honda Fit and I will certainly be starting at Dover again. More

Rick made the entire purchase a non-threatening event from initial contact through negotiation and finally, to delivery. Rick embodied the characteristics of true professionalism, courtesy and integrity which many auto salesmen/women espouse, but fail to deliver. Keeping in mind the absolute respect that Rick advances to each of his customers, my wife and I revisited Dover Honda, and Rick, to view, negotiate, and purchase a new 2015 Honda CRV EX. Rick Stern took the time necessary to acquaint us with the product, allowed us to test drive the vehicle without the necessity of his having to accompany us ( showing respect for us and our particular situation ), and then negotiated, in good faith, delivering a price which beat two of his competitors, both whom have dealerships in NH, by a good margin. Rick took time to deliver the product in complete absence of any arrogance or demeaning manner, in spite of my somewhat confusing questions as to operational aspects of the product, which was greatly appreciated. Rick showed total respect for us as consumers and delivered both himself and his dealership in a most refreshing, polite and professional manner. We totally recommend Rick Stern as the salesman of choice to represent Dover Honda and its fine products. Be sure to ask for Rick to represent you in your quest for a new or used Honda vehicle. I had an appointment to have my car appraised on a Friday, but decided to swing over the Thursday night before to check out the place with my husband. I would have bought a car that night on the spot if the salesman put me in the car I wanted to drive. A Chevy salesman swooped me up and when I told him I was looking for a specific honda, instead of steering me in the right direction, he steered me into an Aveo. I figured I would give the salesman, Drake, the benefit of the doubt, even though I wanted to test a specific vehicle (which he said was on the lot but he had "trouble finding the keys"). An hour later, this guy has my prelim paperwork done and tries to sell me two different Chevys, but does not get me in the car I'm wanting to drive. Oh well, I think, I'll be here tomorrow for the appraisal, he's just waiting for that. Ok - so next day. I'm running a little late, but drake calls me when I'm on my way. I ask if I'll still get my trade-in assessed, assuming that will happen will I test the car I'm there to drive. "Of course" he says. Well, I get there, he puts me in three more Chevys, an hour later my car has not been appraised. And finally, drake tells me the car I was in the market for was no longer on the lot. What the what?? I drove 60 miles round trip twice to test a car you no longer had?? And you failed to tell me on two occasions?? xxxxxxxx! "So what about the trade-in value?" I ask. Maybe I'll buy that newer model if the trade in is on the higher end (I think to myself). Jim, who I never saw, relayed the message that they will not assess unless I'm definitely going to leave the lot in one of their cars. So out the door I leave, no new vehicle, no knowledge regarding the trade-in, morning totally wasted. Never again will I step foot on this lot. Terrible. More

I inquired about the specific car that I wanted, and it turned out that the sale price at Dover Honda was $1,000 less than what Edmunds.com estimated! So much for negotiating! This made the sales process easy because there was no way I could have gotten a better deal than that anywhere else. When I arrived, Susan (Sue) greeted me and my family as we were taking a look at the same exact car that I had found online. I was amazed that it was still there. The sales process kicked off, and throughout the entire process we were treated with the utmost respect. The staff was all very friendly and personable. I did spend a few hours at the office because I had to wait for the business manager to be available, but ultimately I got the car I wanted at an incredible price. I received all the documents I needed to get my car insurance all set. Honestly, I have no complaints at all, only good things to say about Dover Honda! The staff is friendly, professional, and you simply cannot beat their prices! Highly recommended! More

Cautiously optimistic The manager of this dealership, Nancy Oeser, recently contacted me after I posted about some very bad recent experiences with the service department a The manager of this dealership, Nancy Oeser, recently contacted me after I posted about some very bad recent experiences with the service department at Dover Honda. I was impressed to find that she was genuinely interested in using the feedback to improve customer service. I found Nancy to be very professional and very sincere. She reviewed the situation with me, took notes, identified opportunities for training staff and improving customer services processes and ultimately made an effort to get help for me on a Honda warranty-related issue. She also offered to provide some assistance from the dealership and to arrange for the paint job that the roof of my car needs at this time due to an error at the Honda factory. While I was disappointed that Honda didn't ultimately cover the whole thing (it seemed to me that my circumstances ought to have warranted this), they did respond to her request by offering to pay all but $400 on the paint job, rental not included, Nancy offered $200 from the dealership to defray some of the cost to me and made all the arrangements with the body shop. Now, after my frustrating experiences with the service manager and with going it alone with American Honda on this, I felt that this was far more reasonable than what I was offered to solve this problem before (which was next to nothing). While I would have left there walking on air had I only had to cover the rental myself (and none of the paint job), I at least left there feeling that I had dealt with an honest person who was making a sincere effort to provide quality service. I have decided to post, for now, on the initial problem-solving effort then post again after this transaction is completed (which should be at the end of next week). I'm hopeful that I'll have another good experience -- maybe even a stellar one (five stars and all that). I am also cautiously optimistic that there will be improvements in customers' service experience as the general manager uses feedback to help employees respond more effectively to the needs of customers. I have enough confidence in the general manager that I think that I will be able to continue to have my car serviced there, as I have for the last eight years What I will recommend to other customers at this point is this: If you have any problem with Honda Service, you may want to contact the General Manager at Dover Honda Chevrolet, Nancy Oeser. I think you will find in her a competent professional who is interested in solving your problem and in using feedback to improve the quality of service in the future. More
