Purchased a 2021 G70 3.3T. Great experience - simple and no pressure and they worked the deal I wanted and made the entire process simple - about an hour for all the paperwork and I was out the door. On March 30 in the evening, we test drove a 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe and decided to purchase the vehicle. We had been pre-approved for financing through Capital One Auto Locator. Because it was close to 9 PM Santa Fe and decided to purchase the vehicle. We had been pre-approved for financing through Capital One Auto Locator. Because it was close to 9 PM after we were done with the test drive, the finance manager could not get a hold of anyone to verify the finance rate (this is the first questionable occurrence). So, we agreed to the final bottom-line, written purchase price, shook hands and promised to be back in the morning to sign the paperwork for the vehicle when the finance approval was in. On March 31, we had an appointment for 10.30 AM. After they left us waiting for 45 minutes, they presented us with a sales sheet with a price that was $3000 higher than the price we had agreed upon the previous evening. When we confronted them on it, they told us that the manager who had agreed to it the previous evening, was not there. When we informed them we didn’t want to purchase it at that price, the finance manager got very rude and yelled at us “you need to figure all that out with sales before I even draw up paperwork”. The poor young salesman (Eric) then had to go talk to his sales manager on our behalf. Behind the desk, they feverishly began “trying to match the price” by supposedly looking through their inventory. The posturing was actually rather comical. I finally walked up to the desk after another 45 minutes and told them that they did not need to pretend, they could either honor the price they had given us the night before, or we would purchase somewhere else. This is where the “fun” started. The sales manager began by yelling at me that “he was just trying to help me”. I asked him what exactly he was trying to help me with? Spending my money? I can do that on my own, thank you. He got very angry and started yelling that I could go spend my money somewhere else, he didn’t care if he got any new business out of us or not. We got right in each other’s hair and I told him that if he insisted on using these shady practices and going back on an agreement (which was made in front of the salesman Eric, who was present both days), then I would take my business elsewhere and report his lack of ethics for a complaint. He yelled that he didn’t care, screamed at me to go “sit down” and “don’t be so assertive”. I lost my patience at him and told him to never, ever, tell that to a woman again, that I was asserting my right as a customer and that his deplorable behavior was a disgrace to the Hyundai brand. When he tried claiming that I was yelling at him, I told him that I hadn’t even raised my voice yet, but would be happy to do so if he kept talking over me. When I finally told him that I would be reporting his behavior directly to Hyundai Motor Company, he all of a sudden backed down, got very friendly and told us “but I’m a nice guy, I promise, we just want to sell you a car”. Too late, and we walked out, shaken and upset. It took me hours to calm down from the encounter. You would think it ends there, but no. We went to a Chapman Hyundai in Phoenix that afternoon and purchased the same Sante Fe we wanted without any incident. The model (SLE with convenience package) and color we wanted was not on their lot but they were able to find us one and promised to deliver it to our house the following morning. The purchase price was even $500 better than the ORIGINAL price we were promised at Earnhardt on Tuesday evening. We signed the finance agreement within the hour, when all of a sudden the manager comes out to deliver us “bad news”. Apparently, the vehicle they had found, was the very one at Earnhardt Hyundai we had looked at before and because they got wind that Chapman was now selling it to us, they refused to let them trade the vehicle ! Can you even imagine the unprofessionalism and pettiness?!? Thankfully, Chapman did us right and found us another, slightly more expensive vehicle and sold it to us at the same price. We will be taking all of our business there from now on. More
Upon going to them, the sales rep(s), left us alone when looking at their vehicles. They didn't force themselves on us, giving me a friendly, open vibe from them. Everyone at the dealership was knowledgeabl looking at their vehicles. They didn't force themselves on us, giving me a friendly, open vibe from them.
