Be very careful 3 yrs ago I leased a vehicle at the recommendation of a friend who had leased from them in the past. My first experience was awesome. Everyone was pro 3 yrs ago I leased a vehicle at the recommendation of a friend who had leased from them in the past. My first experience was awesome. Everyone was professional and treated me like a real person...like I mattered. As I approached the end of the lease term I began looking for the next car. I went back to the dealership and met Todd. I explained my situation and told him what I was looking for. Honestly, he didn’t rush or pressure me into anything. He introduced me to his sales manager, Peter, who tried to come up with a “number” we could agree with. It was WAY over my budget so I decided to wait for another month or two. Part of his offer included the cost of overage miles that was rolled into the payments (at least that’s the way they made it sound). Todd reached out to me every few weeks to see if my situation had changed at all and offered me to stop back in. After about 2 months or so I called him and asked him to work out a better price. I advised him that I had visited other dealerships and was offered a deal. Peter eventually got on the phone and seemed quite offended that I would shop for a better deal. He initially refused to give me price over the phone (which I actually understand) and insisted I would play around and keep shopping them. He eventually gave me a xx story that he was doing ME a favor by approving my credit because it was much lower than they normally approve. I monitor my credit and know for a fact that it wasn’t the same score he told me. And besides that, I had just leased for 3 yrs without a single late payment so I was confident I’d be approved again. He finally said that he could work me a deal for about $400 at 12k miles per yr. I agreed. When I arrived at the dealership I expected for them to have much of the paper work ready. I waited for what seemed like an eternity. At one point I asked Todd for the final price of my lease to which he replied...” I don’t know but theyll tell you in the finance office”. By then I was already on edge. As I finally sat with the finance person I asked her what the price was. She was surprised and clearly frustrated that I didn’t know because they’ve done it to many customers in the past, putting her in an awkward situation clearly. it was $70 more than what Peter told me over the phone. By then, I was there more than 2 hrs and my wife and daughter were starving and wanted to leave. I regrettably signed the documents. When I was done, Todd approached me with a hand shake to congratulate me. I sternly told him that I didn’t like the surprise of being kept in the dark over the price to find out that it was significantly higher that I was told. He responded by saying...”I didn’t write the deal...it was Peter who did it”. He quickly passed the buck. Now 6 months later I’m receiving collection calls from Toyota Financial for the overage miles they told me was part of my payments. I’ve tried to get it resolved but was told that I signed a document stating that I agreed otherwise. They conned me just to make a little extra $$. They’ll never see me there again. I hope the commission was worth losing my business and taking my wife to a different Lexus dealership. More
