I spoke with Brian over the phone to begin buying the Outback I was interested in. After a very brief conversation and the best price offered from the 5 dealers I spoke with, we went in and purchased the Outback I was interested in. After a very brief conversation and the best price offered from the 5 dealers I spoke with, we went in and purchased the car. They had it ready as we requested the next day and it was the simplest vehicle purchase I’ve ever made. Hate to do this. I rarely write reviews and have never had to edit one. But, my experience with Liberty Subaru since purchasing my vehicle has been highly disappointing and I can't stand behind the 5 star had to edit one. But, my experience with Liberty Subaru since purchasing my vehicle has been highly disappointing and I can't stand behind the 5 stars I gave originally. They have not stood behind their word, they are charging me additional/unexpected fees, my "Certified pre-owned" vehicle is low on fluids, already needs to be inspected, and the dealership refuses to help me in any way. Yes, I can admit that these are things I should have looked into before pulling away. However, being that the certified pre-owned vehicles are supposed to undergo an inspection with a 200+ point checklist, I felt confident at the time that everything was taken care of before I left the lot. The only reason I am not giving 1 star across the board is that John was actually incredibly nice and friendly, but the customer service is lacking and "being nice" just doesn't cut it with such a large investment. I will be paying the fees and eating the charges as I understand a contract was signed, but, I do hope I can help someone reading this review before they make the same decision (mistake) I did in shopping at this dealership. There are a number of other Subaru dealerships within driving distance, and I hope you take the time to check these out (Ramsey Subaru comes highly recommended). My first indication that this was not the place to purchase my vehicle should have been when the finance department took a look at paperwork passed along to them when sitting down with me and said to each other "he really John Clarke'd this one." This is not an experience I will be forgetting soon. More

Brian Goon is excellent at what he does! He was polite, patient and very knowledgeable. He analyzed what type of car was best suited for me and explained everything thoroughly. He later on followed up to b patient and very knowledgeable. He analyzed what type of car was best suited for me and explained everything thoroughly. He later on followed up to be sure that after using the car for a week or two, I understood everything about how to use it. I would strongly recommend both Brian, as well at that dealership! I just wish the manager had been a bit more fair with what he quoted for the trade-in value of my older Subaru. More
I first visited another dealership in Bergen County but I had a negative experience there. At Liberty Subaru in Emerson my car shopping experience was handled with professionalism and knowledge. I normally don't write reviews, but the service I received at Liberty is worth writing one for. Not only was Liberty able to provide a deal significantly lower than other dealers in the area - three received at Liberty is worth writing one for. Not only was Liberty able to provide a deal significantly lower than other dealers in the area - three other dealers could not even come close to beating the price, especially with the current car shortage - their service and personal connection was exceptional. John Clarke from sales was personable, caring, and an absolute joy to work with. He made sure to explain everything and was helpful the entire time. Furthermore, when something I asked to be removed couldn't be, he provided additional services to cover the cost. If that was not enough, my experience with Tom Portee in finance was also great. Most associate the finance department with "where they get you", but Tom was the opposite. He made sure to explain each document and fee and provided all the time I needed to review. There were no hidden costs and in particular, he did not try to pressure me into getting additional warranty coverage. Having had a traumatic car buying experience the first time I bought a car, this experience with John and Tom has helped to ease my anxiety with purchasing a car and relieve much of the cynicism I have with car dealerships. It was clear that Liberty is intentional about working with you, not against you, and I will definitely come back when I need a new Subaru. More
I purchased my first Subaru with Brian and it wasn’t the typical car buying experience. This was easy, straight forward and friendly. At no point did I feel pressured or like the dealer was trying to pull t typical car buying experience. This was easy, straight forward and friendly. I visited Liberty Subaru on Saturday, May 29th. It had been my third visit so far and my last two services were positive, however, this last visit was exceptionally disappointing. My car was serviced due to a suspicious noise that I'd been hearing for about a week. After 3 1/2 hours and a $600 bill, I drove off thinking my issue had been resolved. To my dismay, there were more problems after the service that were not diagnosed at the time of the visit. The service center staff was not willing to provide a solution despite their oversight. The "manager" stated when I called that "they do not perform diagnostics on Saturdays", which is laughable because I initially visited on a Saturday and always have in my previous services. The dishonesty and unwillingness to help rectify the situation led me to leave a poor review. I resorted to taking my vehicle to my personal mechanic to assess the problem and he was confounded how Liberty replaced the bushings on my vehicle and did not notice that the arm controls were damaged. Unfortunately, I paid an additional labor fee to repair the issue that was neglected by Liberty's service team. in the first place. I would never return to have my vehicle serviced here, do better. More
