Hello, Donna…thank you for taking time to provide feedback about your experience. I’m sorry that you feel so negatively about your visit with Tom yesterday, but I think it’s important to clarify a few points. You and your son told Tom that you’d like to purchase this particular Impreza, so Tom began writing up the buyer’s order. While Tom was writing the buyers order, your son was outside on his phone. Since the car was to be titled and registered to your son, Tom asked you to have your son come back inside so he could get the information necessary to complete the purchase. When your son finished his phone call, you both came back inside and you told Tom that your son would like “some time to think about it”. As you were leaving, Tom told you that if you do decide that you want the car, to call him and he would hold it until you got back with a deposit. At no time did he offer to “hold the car until the next day” without a deposit, which is against company policy. He did not hear back from you until you returned two hours later, at which time the vehicle had been sold to someone else. Upon receiving that news, you and your son promptly left the building. I’m not clear what gave you the impression that we “wanted to sell (you) a higher priced car”, since you and your son left before Tom could even check to see if we had anything similar to offer you. To be clear, the vehicle you were interested in was available, but was sold to someone else after you left without purchasing it. Unfortunately, when supply is so short, reasonably priced cars sell quickly, which is what happened here…not “bait and switch”, which is a very serious consumer fraud violation in the state of NJ. I’m sorry that this purchase did not work out, especially since you’re a returning customer. If your son is still in the market for a vehicle, as I write this response, we do have a few options in the same sub-$12,000 price range. Please reach out, and we’d be happy to help.
