Todd, After speaking to you on several occasions and after 35 minutes of speaking to you and going around in circles I informed you that there was nothing more that we could do for you. Only after all of that I informed you that I was hanging up and ending the conversations. I did not in any way hang up on you rudely. You neglected to share all the facts of your car deal. For starters you negotiated your complete deal over the phone. Something most dealers would not even entertain the idea of. Next we gave you top dollar for trade in sight unseen. And we went below internet pricing on our vehicle to earn your business. When you arrived your vehicle was not exactly what you had portrayed it to be yet we still stuck to the negotiated price. We did that based on the fact that we are a dealer that sticks to our word. It is important to tell the Whole Truth when writing a review. You state that you left 13 messages for the owners and never received a call back. However you spoke with Dan Marquardt on several occasions over the phone. Again only after Mr. Marquardt told you the same thing I did and that we were not going to take any further action did you continue to leave voicemails that went unreturned. The problem that you encountered with your car deal was solely your responsibility. We did charge you the correct taxes on your deal 6.0%. The problem was that the state of Michigan had changed their laws regarding out of state purchases before you took delivery of your vehicle with us. The change is as follows: For vehicles the sales tax trade-in credit amount is the price agreed to by the dealer Effective January 1, 2017 the sales tax trade-in credit amount for vehicles delivered on or after January 1st for the trade-in vehicle not to exceed $3,500. It is impossible for an out of state dealer to know every other states rules unless we are made aware of it by the customer residing in that state. That being said you were obviously unaware of the change yourself given the fact that you reviewed all the sales documents before signing. And only after you went to register the vehicle in Michigan did this become an issue. At what point do you hold yourself accountable for any part of the transaction? We sold you the vehicle and fulfilled our promises to you regarding trade in value and selling price and the taxes based on what we knew. Additionally you regret to state in your review that even after you arrived at the dealership you wanted to negotiate even further which we obliged you. Had we sold you the vehicle with large profit in the deal we would have been able to assist you with additional charges that you were asked to pay as a courtesy. However after paying the sales person there was not even enough profit to cover any amount of the additional taxes you were asked to pay. But in good faith we did pay you half of the amount of your liablity in the amount of $600. Something else you failed to mention that in your review. In closing we have apologized for the inconvenience that this has caused and offered to help in other ways. However you need to assume you’re part of the responsibility with the transactions. The laws in Illinois change constantly and we are always aware of the changed due to the publications sent to us by the state. That being said it is impossible for us to keep up with the laws of all other states. And it is the responsibility of the buyer to provide us with any information regarding the purchase laws of their state. Regards Carey Lynch General Sales Manager
