Our situation is not unique: I purchased a Ram Promaster 2500. I was told there was a clean Carfax and the car had been inspected. We went to another dealer to have a possible exhaust leak inspected and told there was external damage to the exhaust from an undisclosed accident that was visible and would have been found with a visual inspection. No warranty will cover $9000 in damages, extended or otherwise. We had pointed out possible damage to van upon pick up, witnessed by service tech and staff and they insisted car was ok, inspected and clear of accidents. In Florida, a clean carfax does not absolve a dealer from performing an independent inspection of a vehicle to prevent a consumer from facing high repair costs and undisclosed damages. After no contact or return calls I posted an honest review of my experience. I received an email from who I am told is the owner or Mazda of Palm Beach and it is copy and pasted below from the email of "wecare@mazdaof palmbeach.com": We won’t even be entertaining speaking to you until you remove your slander reviews off . You’re entitled to nothing , you bought used car AS - IS . You have absolutely zero recourse. None . Anything my staff chooses to do is out of the kindness of their hearts as you are legally entitled to nothing. Start by removing your reviews and speaking with Samatha . Review was withdrawn and no response was received by the end of the day. My negative review is honest, and this review fairly reflects my opinion of the poor customer service provided by Mazda of Palm Beach. Negative reviews are protected speech under the Consumer Review Fairness Act. Businesses are prohibited from using threats or retaliation to silence honest customer feedback. I am well within my rights to share a truthful account of my experience. I am awaiting further response from Mazda of Palm Beach and hope that there are no further threats of retaliation and a instead a good faith offer to resolved the accident not disclosed by the dealership. UPDATE: I received this email from Mazda: Samantha Burns Reid 3:56 PM (1 hour ago) to Ben, me, Tom Robin, We have reviewed the situation. The vehicle was sold as-is, and you signed documentation, including the AutoCheck report , which showed no known accidents at the time of sale. We will not be covering the cost of the repairs. Have a great weekend! A dealership selling a car "as is" means the buyer accepts the vehicle in its current condition with no warranties or guarantees from the dealer. This means if issues arise after the purchase, the buyer is typically responsible for the repairs.
