I originally didn’t plan to purchase a car, just to see what was available. Ed Jacob’s technic of letting me know what was in the inventory and what was in my price range was unique. I realize this may sound a little harsh, but I dropped my car off for diagnostic service, and my window (which hadn't had an issue in 8 years) suddenly stopped working. When I picked it up, the quote for ser car off for diagnostic service, and my window (which hadn't had an issue in 8 years) suddenly stopped working. When I picked it up, the quote for service was twice as much as other places in the area. I asked for ideas on what might be wrong (not a full diagnostic workup), but was told I would have to pay for that. After clarifying that I just wanted some ideas, the sales staff became defensive and again insisted I would have to pay. I decided to just let it go, paid, and made arrangements to have my car towed. I'm not sure if I'll be back for service. Obviously, buying a car is best done at dealerships, but it's clear to me that the sales department here is focused more on squeezing every ounce of profit out of each car than on customer service.
