Nimnicht Chevrolet to Mr. Mann we apologize for the mechanical issues your son is going thru on his 2008 GMC Sierra he purchased back in October 2018. We do not sell with intent of mechanical breakdowns. we do have our guidelines for the pre-owned vehicles we sell. 1.) GM Certified units must be 5 years or newer with under 75,000 miles 2.) Our 30 day/3,000 miles warranty vehicles or remainder of warranty units as well. 3.) Our "As Is" units that are older than 6 years or have over 100,000 miles where the customer signs and acknowledges that there is no warranty on this vehicles as stated on the "Buyer's Guide that is required to be posted on the "AS IS" unit on the lot prior to sale and then signed when the "AS IS" unit is sold by the customer. The 2008 GMC Sierra 188,402 miles your son purchased in October of 2018 was an "AS IS" unit, he acknowledged that it was a 10 year old unit with high mileage of 188,402 miles. We went thru the Carfax as well which was 1 owner with 31 service history records. We also noticed he went thru the Protection Packages available and went with 36 month Premier 50,000 miles warranty, this warranty has a Breakdown Coverage Declarations page which goes over with what is covered and not covered. He did reject the Premier Plus on the menu presentation which is a more Comprehensive of Breakdown Coverages but it's also a little more expensive especially on vehicles with 188,000 miles. Not to say we don't understand your situation would be misleading as we are in the automotive business and mechanical breakdowns happen. We try to do what is best for the customer during and after the sale, on "AS IS" sales, months later we could not stay in business if we were to fix every unit that has a mechanical issue especially not knowing how the vehicle/truck has been driven on off-road/on-road, how it has been maintained/serviced etc. Hopefully this response answers some of your concerns for your son's purchase back in October 2018 on the "AS IS' unit. We would of appreciated the opportunity to look at first it not based on the expert recommendation of the tow truck driver to take the truck where you did not purchase it. By taking it to a competitor is like taking your truck to a ghost mechanic shop where they will find everything wrong and things that aren't wrong so they can charge you for everything. Maybe we would of been able to help internally and maybe it would've or would of not been covered by the warranty purchased.
