Prior to the end of our 3 year lease, we visited Open Road VW several times over the course of two months to test drive new cars and discuss lease agreements. We connected with an experienced sales person who answered our questions and took us on test drives. We decided on a vehicle and negotiated a decent lease price, we felt it was a bit much, but manageable. Then at the final stage of signing the lease we were informed that we "should" purchase a service agreement because VW no longer includes service for the full term of the lease, as they had done for our previous lease. Meaning the leasee will have to pay for service from windshield wipers to brakes. Using the typical scare tactics, the manager quoted labor and equipment fees that could add up to be very costly. I don't doubt the accuracy of the information being provided. However, it was really unprofessional and a disappointment given our pleasant experience working with our sales consultant, up to that point, to learn about the lack of service and changes in the lease agreements at the final stage when we were executing our lease, particularly, given the routine communication with our sales person and the time period over which we visited the showroom. I was prepared to leave, but my husband convinced me to stay. I don't know why this information was withheld until the final stage other than the fact that new customers will be turned off and decide to take their business elsewhere. And, we aren't talking about an insignificant sum, the prices quoted to us ranged between $80 - $180 more per month on top of the amount of your lease, which means that the amount you expected to pay for tax, title, and fees increases, too. That really did not sit well with me, and for that reason once this lease expires we will not do business with Volkswagen again, at least, not for a lease maybe a purchase. (Is that the inspiration for the decrease in service?) It is unfortunate given that we had a great experience with our first lease, my husband negotiated the lease payments with the manager and there weren't any surprise fees at the end. We drove away in our new car and we were happy. Unfortunately, this time we both felt as if we had been taken advantage of. Also, staff are instructed - I'm sure - to play up the new features of particular vehicles - XM radio, etc. - however, these services require you to pay a monthly service fee, so it is inaccurate to portray them as extra features that are provided since you don't have access to them if you don't want to pay for them. I think the dealership is not completely to blame since it is surely a policy decisions made at the corporate management level to decrease the amount of service customers receive in order to improve their bottom line. I'm certain this happens every where, but it is still disappointing and with a significant purchase/lease such as a car it is very important that the service staff be experienced and thoroughly discuss any changes to the lease agreement and additional charges, and that the senior staff exhibit a great deal of integrity. Our sales person was very helpful and thoughtful, however, the managers who handle the final stage of the lease agreement left a great deal to be desired, and they have inspired me to take my future business elsewhere. The location is clean and well equipped. With the exception of the staff we dealt with to sign our final paperwork, everyone was very helpful, professional, and friendly. The car suits our needs and handles really well. VW makes a quality product. More

Smiles, jokes, we a great time and there was no "hard sell" pressure that will sometimes drive you away as a consumer. It was conversation. The rep was well knowledgeable and informative and the site was clean. If cleanliness and customer service is your thing I highly recommend going to this location. Thanks for your help Shon More
Well my first experience was in Jan 2011 when I bought a 2011 Jetta S for my wife. From the moment my wife and I walked into Open Road VW of Manhattan we were approached and helped. That same day we left ve 2011 Jetta S for my wife. From the moment my wife and I walked into Open Road VW of Manhattan we were approached and helped. That same day we left very happy with the service and we also left with our first new car as a married couple. Not only did we leave with a new car we also left a couple of friendly people I can call friends. A month later the team at Open Road VW helped me get into a GTI. Before I came to Open Road I tried a few other VW dealers which after months of dealing with them I got no where. But on Feb 14 2011 I drove off the lot with my second new VW also purchased at Open Road. Its a great feeling walking into a place where you are always welcome with hugs and happiness, and called by your name. I live about an hour from Manhattan and I pass about 2 or 3 VW dealers but I will always end up at Open Road of Manhattan. Last week I called the sales manager and told him I needed something more fuel efficient due to my commute and guess what, the next day I bought my 5th car from them.(yes ive bought 5 cars from this same dealer Jetta,Gti,Golf,Tiguan & Passat) Everyone that ask me where should they go for a new car I direct them over to Open Road VW of Manhattan because I know that they will be respected and leave with one of the best experience ever. I wish i read all these reviews before going there. The people and the place is full of scammers, rude, foul people. They will say anything to get you to buy and will try and trick you with a great price, people and the place is full of scammers, rude, foul people. They will say anything to get you to buy and will try and trick you with a great price, which will go up. They will talk to you - try to distract you from what you are doing - and slip the new HIGHER price in the paperwork. You will spend at least 2-3 hours haggling with them. PLEASE don't go - these people need to be reported and place closed. Horrible experience!!! More
This is the WORST experience ever with a dealership for a new car. I was attracted at the beginning because I was offered a good price over the phone. During my first visit, I realized although the sale pric new car. I was attracted at the beginning because I was offered a good price over the phone. During my first visit, I realized although the sale price for the car is good, they have all kinds of "fee" - admin fee, doc fee, car wash fee (excuse me? wash a new car?) Those fees can easily add up to ~$700. Still, at that moment, I admit the OTD price is the best I can get. Since I plan to trade in my old car, we didn't sign any agreement. Here comes the disappointing part. One week later, I planned to settle the deal. I called the salespeople one day before, and explicitly asked if the price changes? I got a clear answer - the previous price is OK but cannot be further lowered. Even one hour before I go, I called the dealership to confirm if they were still open. Meanwhile, I asked again if the price would be honored. I still got a confirmative YES. However, when I got there, I was told they cannot honor that price because all incentive bonuses from VW are used up. I even have a quote in writing from the last visit, but this time the manager didn't recognize their own letterhead paper, and said it was not signed. I did check online the reviews related to this dealership. Most of them are negative, and the overall rating is way below average. The mistake I made is to trust the number they gave and disregard so many real reviews. Finally, I just ended up wasting two weeks. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. If you read my review and still want to give them a try. All I can say is good luck. More
I traded in my Nissan last year for a Tiguan and was told that Open Road would take care of the remaining lease on my car and I was free and clear of the vehicle. (My fault for not getting it in writing!!!) that Open Road would take care of the remaining lease on my car and I was free and clear of the vehicle. (My fault for not getting it in writing!!!) Not to mention that I put down $5000K on the Tiguan which I was told would go to paying off my previous car. I was running my credit today, I found out they only partially paid off the Nissan and my account is in collections and my credit score has lowered by 100 points. I have moved in the last year and never received any bills. I called Open Road and neither the salesperson or manager that worked the deal is there (how convenient). I feel totally taken advantage of and feel they really robbed me on this transaction. More
