I just purchased a used 2016 Nissan Pathfinder. It was smoking pretty bad, white billowy smoke on startup. It would only happen after hours of it being parked. I contacted the dealership, I had to take off work a full day to drive from Austin. I am dealing with a pregnant fiancee and a rotational job where missing work may cost me the role. I walked around for hours waiting on them. I saw the vehicle parked OUTSIDE of the garage for a long time. When I finally asked for a status update, they told me everything was fine. They used only what I had told them, that there was white smoke at startup intermittently. It seemed they did not check the vehicle at all. They even showed me other cars and how normal it is for a little white smoke to come out of the exhaust, even though I had showed them video of my car billowing white smoke. I was tired and hungry. I drove it home to Austin. When I got home I started it again and white smoke billowed from the exhaust and the check engine light came on! I then drove it to Auto Zone where the computer said it was the catalytic converter. They offered me a product to put into the gas tank. I applied the product and the engine light went off. Two days later, I started it up in the morning and the check engine light came on and white smoke billowed out of the exhaust. I now have to take it to a mechanic I can trust. The thrill and joy of experiencing a new car was derailed. Sick to death at the stress and difficulty in finding a solution. I have so much going on in my life, to buy a used car that is failing immediately is the absolute worst and I do not wish this on anyone else. More
