Thankful for the relief We needed a vehicle for our college student and REALLY had no clue what to buy. He's tall, so the first order of business was to find vehicles in wh We needed a vehicle for our college student and REALLY had no clue what to buy. He's tall, so the first order of business was to find vehicles in which he could fit. We went from dealership to dealership asking, "can he just sit in _____ to see how he fits." The difficulties of that simple request were maddening! I understand the desire to harvest emails and contact numbers... and I was glad to provide... IF he fit in the vehicle. At some dealerships, we would go through three people and 40-minutes before ever touching a vehicle. At one dealership, they immediately took us out (which we thought was an encouraging sign) to the lot and started showing the correct size vehicles (small to mid size SUV's)... but after looking in windows and baking in the hot sun, we were asked, "which one would you like to sit in." Our response was, "it doesn't matter, pick one." Then the representative said he had to go get a key and was gone for 15 minutes while we stood in 95 degree sunshine. Keep in mind, we were not even asking for a test drive (I would understand needing ID/driver's license information, etc). We didn't know if we wanted used or new (the prices were close, and with incentives, there was even less difference in price). After two weeks of an exhaustive search, we stopped by Scott Clark Toyota. This dealership is nowhere near us and we decided to stop as we were passing by on our way to pick up a child at an out of town camp. The front desk called a salesman out. It was Francesco (Frank) Bertuglia. At first he tried to have us sit down to fill out a card and I started thinking, "here we go again." I knew we had limited time. He clued in pretty quickly and said, "we can do this later, let's go to the lot." I told him I was struggling with sending a new car to a college parking lot (even though a new car may be the smarter economic decision). I asked if there were "demo" or certified used cars worth looking at. He listened to our "wants." We asked for two things: blind spot indicators and any interior color other than black. He took us out to the lot and showed us a row of used RAV4 models and one three year old model only had 11,000 miles on it. To make a long story shorter, he never shoved us over to someone else. Frank could answer all of our questions and "take charge" of the customer. He drove us around the parking lot to the detail shop to see if they could improve a scratch on the side (they could). When we started talking about actually buying the vehicle, we didn't have to talk to anyone else. Frank took care of everything. I appreciate the fact he listened, clued in to what we really wanted and problem solved. It was as painless as buying a car could be. More
