My husband and I seem to have established a brand loyalty with Volvo. We are now driving our fourth model and have purchased and serviced three of the the four from Smythe Volvo. Since our lifestyle supports vehicle needs for two (and at times -three) people, we have also had the need to consistently own multiple vehicles at a time. Thereby, giving us the luxury of owning other brands, as well. From a comparison standpoint, the buying experience at Smythe Volvo, was always excellent. We also tend to have all of our automobile service needs taken care of at the purchase location. Therefore, we have had experience with many of the Service Advisors at Smythe through the years. From the initial appointment call to the point where you drive the serviced vehicle away, the experience is professional and satisfying. You are treated with the utmost respect as a customer and a Volvo owner. Not only do the Service Advisors engage in dialogue about the scheduled/routine maintenance issues, but they take the time to uncover/address any other issues that may be arising with the vehicle. While all of the Service Advisors are excellent, I feel compelled to mention Tony Pelsh. He is the epitome of "service with a smile." He has gone the extra mile on numerous occasions and always makes the service visit ---enjoyable, whether you are waiting in the customer lounge or driving a loaner. Smythe Volvo Service continues to get our "thumbs-up" approval! I always recommend the dealership to anyone that happens to notice my car---or that is in the market for a new purchase. I recently purchased a CPO Volvo XC90 from Smythe Volvo in Summit, NJ. I could not be happier with the process. I had spent the better part of a year trying to narrow down the plethora of choices available in Summit, NJ. I could not be happier with the process. I had spent the better part of a year trying to narrow down the plethora of choices available for a new family car for us and finally decided on the Volvo XC90 for obvious reasons. The challenge was then to find the right one and the right dealer to buy from. After finding the vehicle on Smythe's website, I called in and was directed to Tony Catarino. We arranged for my wife and I to come have a look at the car and take it for a test drive that evening. After that was done, we still needed more time to talk things over and see if this was the car for us. There was zero pressure from Tony or anyone else, no "hard sell" pushyness whatsoever, just a conversation we could resume at any point if we decided to move forward. After having dealt with so many shady used car dealerships in the past, this approach is so refreshing and takes all stress out of the experience. I know I'm not the only one that hates a pushy dealership and that is usually enough to make you look elsewhere. Tony answered all my questions and went over options on the vehicle and details of the CPO program with me. I went back a week later to look at a few other XC90s to see what else they had on their lot but ended up going back to the original one I had looked at the first time. I asked to take the car home for a little while to look at it again and Tony promptly threw me the keys and told me he'd see me later. This is a great way to let the customer take their time looking at the features and get a better feel for the car compared to a relatively short test drive. I really appreciated this courtesy from Smythe. After coming back later in the afternoon, Tony, Chris Henriksen and I went over a few of the things I'd need taken care of if I were to make an offer on it. They agreed to take care of all the minor items before I took delivery. Later that day, Tony and I made a deal over the phone (Tony stayed late to take my call after business hours on a Saturday) and it was all settled. I went in to pick the car up five days later, everything taken care of as promised and the financial transaction was smooth and quick with Stephen who was handling the financial portion while another employee was out. I've been in contact with the dealership a couple of times via email since I took delivery and they're always very quick to respond. I can totally see why Smythe is #1 in customer service. Look at the reviews online (dealerrater and other places) and go check them out. I live less than 10 miles from Smythe and I'm very glad I was able to find someone that was so easy to deal with. Going to Smythe is like visting a Mom & Pop business, but with all the professionalism cultivated to mesh friendliness with businesslike and technically informed service. Being impressed at a car dealership is not a description prior to my experience here I would ever have used. Mr. Flanagan made sure I was comfortable in the waiting room as I waited for my car. When ready, I was given a complete explanation of what had been done. There was no charge for this service because my car was purchased recently. I was appreciative. I would not hesitate to recommend SMYTHE. More

Specifically, I had a 2008 XC90 coming at the end of lease term which was meaningfully over the mileage. Steve worked out a buyout of the old lease without any penalties or mileage charges. Plus the new 2012 XC90 lease had improved pricing and terms from the 2008 deal. Overall a very positive transaction. More
