Southland Dodge was opened in July 1968 by Joe Teuton Jr., Jeff Teuton, and Dennis Oncale. Joe and Dennis were experienced auto technicians at Downtown Auto Service on Lafayette St, and Jeff was a college graduate in Business Administration from Southeastern Louisiana University. They were also avid drag racers, and they were all under 30 years of age. The first location at 505 Sunset Ave featured a one-car showroom and a 10 car parking lot. Their racing background helped them to sell lots of Dodge Superbees, Chargers, and Challengers in the early years.

When I made the appointment for the Jeep to be brought in I specifically told the service department the latch in the hatch back needed to be changed. They called me later in the day to state they had to or I specifically told the service department the latch in the hatch back needed to be changed. They called me later in the day to state they had to order the latch. Which made it I did not have my vehicle for the holiday. I just wish they would have followed through with what I stated was wrong. More
