I recently bought a 2019 Toyota Tundra from Stevinson East. It was certified used Toyota vehicle meaning it passed all their 180 check marks. We made it about 30 miles up a remote dirt road before we got a flat tire. We were over an hour away from the nearest town. It was annoying but  I got the spare tire lowered and pulled out the jack and lug nut key. As soon as I pulled out the key I noticed that it was stripped. I tried using it on the lug nut but it would not fit into the groves. I was stranded on a very remote dirt road with no service. Luckily for me a kind person stopped and offered to call a tow truck when they got service in town. My new  truck had to be towed into town to remove the lug nut and I was forced to leave my boyfriend and 2 dogs out on the road during a  thunderstorm with no shelter. I will never forget how helpless and anxious I was as we drove away in that tow truck. When we got into town and changed the tire I noticed the flat tire had been patched twice. It also had ozone cracks throughout the entire tire.  After putting on the spare I rushed back to my boyfriend and dogs who were soaking wet and exhausted. I felt unsafe driving on the other tires and went to get new tires the next day. The tire shop was able to put new tires on but couldn't replace the lock nuts. They noted in their report that the tires had multiple ozone cracks and one tire was patched twice . I talked to the technicians about the key and they all agreed that it had been stripped when somebody used it with an impact drill. As soon as I got back into town I called Stevinson to talk to somebody about the tires and the locknut key being stripped. Those tires weren't safe to be driven on and even if the tires met the safety standards for tread I would expect them to say something about the cracks/patching. Part of their 180 point inspection says the tires were free of defects and damages. The other section says they checked the jack, tools and all after market items are checked. This should have included the lock nut key.  I wanted them to inspect the truck after it had to be towed and a reimbursement for the tow or at least have them take the lock nuts off the truck since the key is unusable They called me back saying they weren't responsible and wouldn't be doing anything for me. They claimed I had damaged the lock nut key trying to remove the tire myself. I couldn't do that damage because it wouldn't go on it in the first place! He also said that they don't look at the tread of the locknut, they just make sure it's in the vehicle. My family members have worked at dealerships and they all said they are supposed to check the threads on the lock nut key. He also said they can sell tires with 2 patches and will only replace them if they have 3 patches. Seems super unsafe mixed with cracking all over the tire. I asked to speak to somebody else and left a message for the manager who did not return my calls. I am done speaking to them and will not support their business further. I am so disappointed with Stevinson East and their lack of responsibility or accountability for their oversight. They didn't do a good inspection and it left me in a horrible situation. I will never forget the feeling of having to leave my loved ones in the middle of nowhere. After this experience I will not be supporting Stevinson.  I will not come back to Stevinson and will not recommend them to any of my family or friends, or business associates. Find a better Toyota dealership that takes responsibility for their mistakes. More

Once I expressed that I didn't want to buy anything extra from the finance department, he became rude and condescending. He rushed me through the paperwork faster than I was comfortable with and answered what questions I was able to ask in a very condescending manner. I understand that since I wasn't buying any of his products he felt I was wasting his time, but he was beyond impatient and rude. Wouldn't recommend working with Michael. More

Of course, if you are looking for more details continue reading, but if you need the quick version- Stevinson Toyota is a sexist dealership who’d rather screw a customer for the bottom line than meet the customer’s need. In March of 2021, I leased a truck from Stevenson Toyota. Fast forward a year, I discovered the truck was not for me. My wife really wanted a hybrid Highlander. The notion of a gas efficient, large SUV was too good to pass up. As such, I told her. “As long as you can get even trade value for the Tacoma, you can totally trade it for a Highlander.” My wife immediately reached out to Josh, the Stevinson sales representative that leased me the Tacoma. He was trustworthy. He put the customer first. He’s no longer a sales rep at Stevinson. After learning of Josh’s departure, Stevinson set my wife up with the sales rep Matt. Based on her first experience, Matt appeared to have my wife’s best interest in mind. After all, he proclaimed that we could trade in the leased truck, get $4,000 in return value and finance the remainder of a new vehicle at a viable 2.9% interest rate. Given the offer’s appeal, my wife immediately reserved a Highlander Hybrid, set to arrive in late March. Unfortunately, outside of the vehicle’s arrival date, everything Matt stated to my wife was a lie. Essentially, Matt used coercive sales tactics to manipulate the customer into believing one outcome, only to deceitfully alter the arrangement as a means of extracting additional funds from an unknowing customer. To elaborate, my wife arrived at Stevenson around 3:30PM with my son. We both thought the process would be quick, as the terms of the deal had already been discussed. I arrived around 4:30, as they merely needed my vehicle to complete the trade and finalize the process. As such, I signed a few documents certifying the release of my vehicle, grabbed my son, and headed home. For the next four hours my wife remained at Stevenson. She wasn’t offered food or water. She wasn’t given an apology for the unnecessary wait. She really wasn’t offered any type of customer service whatsoever. Instead, by the time she finally reached the finance office, she was hungry, tired and hopeful to get home before I put the kids to bed. It was only after she arrived in the finance office that she learned Stevenson would no longer adhere to the agreed upon numbers. Instead, Matt shifted the terms of the deal behind my wife’s back. Matt, a crook of a car dealer, notified the finance man, Michael, that my wife OWED $2,000 dollars to meet the terms of the Tacoma’s lease, and said debt should be added to the cost of the Highlander. My wife was taken back at this notion, but exhausted after four hours without food, or even an offer of water, she ultimately signed all the paperwork. She wanted to get home. After all, her only way home was the new Highlander. As my wife in her review- Our sales associate, Matt, was extremely misleading. In fact, we didn't catch the issue until the finance person we worked with, Michael, caught it. Matt was condescending when the problem was pointed out, both to myself and to Michael. Matt could be heard in the hallway talking about Michael and myself. When leaving, Matt said the issue was Michael's fault because "he didn't know what he was doing". I appreciate that management and the finance team corrected the issue but we never heard from Matt during the process. When we came back in to sign new paperwork, Matt saw me and made no attempt to apologize for anything. This tells me all I need to know about him as a person and a professional. While I love my new car, we will not be returning to Stevinson for future purchases and will not recommend it to others. When my wife finally arrived home at 9:00PM, she did not look the part of somebody who just bought a brand new car. She was upset. She felt hoodwinked and used. I mean, how could she not? Ultimately, Matt resorted to sales tactics rooted in sexism and manipulation. For instance, one has to question if he deliberately waited until a female buyer was alone before presenting her with the paperwork. Likewise, he made sure she was eager to buy by making her wait hours, exhausting all patience. Not to mention, in denying one food or water, the buyer’s desire to get home is elevated, thus increasing the likelihood of a (shady) sale. Simply put, there wasn’t a low branch he wasn’t willing to crawl under to make a profit.. On hearing my wife’s account, I was irate. The following day I went to Stevenson; and though Matt was not present, I did get to speak Stevenson’s GM Mr. Steve Bear. Though Mr. Bear was apologetic to me, he didn’t even have the courtesy to return my call the following day. He had his assistant do it instead. Of course, this shouldn’t be surprising, as well, he may have apologized to me, but heaven forbid he reach out and apologize to my wife. Ultimately, based on my family’s experience, we’d strongly urge car buyers to look elsewhere. Fact is, at the end of the day, regardless of outcome, one can only hope that any business treats their customers with respect. My wife and I know that mistakes happen. We recognize that our understanding of events probably differs from that of Stevinson- after all there are two sides to every story. Yet, sadly, despite their absolute egregious behavior, we were left without an apology, without anybody actually explaining why the events transpired as they did, and knowledge that at Stevenson Toyota, integrity and customer experience are nothing if it inhibits their bottom line. a. If I could rate this visit a 0 I would. I arrived at 12:06pm for initial 5k visit and Peter Cassel made me wait until 4:16pm to advise my tires were rotated but the oil was not changed.
