Not a good experience at all, I would not recommend going - greggstewart1983
Not a good experience at all, I would not recommend going to Beaman for a used car unless you do not care to overpay. First off, I found a Jeep Wrangler online and went to the dealership to inquire. Their price listed was at fair market value as it was a 2018 Jeep Wrangler with 96k miles for a little over 19k. They did a soft pull of my credit and worked up a sheet showing terms of payments for up to 72 months conveniently leaving out the % APR and also adding their extra fees including $1895 for a “Nano Cure” detail job now making the original principal 24,800 on the finance. So with a down payment of 4,000 and payments of 421 for 72 months the final price would be 34,312 for a Jeep that is valued at around 18k. They would not let me test drive that day before it had been to the shop so I left and went on to find different options for finance. So after being in the shop for a week and them giving me no information on what was being worked on it was finally able to be test driven so I went by to drive it and a salesman got in the Jeep with me and let me drive it around the block only. I wanted to get it up to speed so I could see if it had any issues with alignment or suspension and the guy told me I could step on it and go as fast as I wanted to ,mind you this is Church Street to Middle Tennessee to Broad back to Church, so top speed I could get was 55 if there is no traffic and that wasn't the case. So he assured me that this is proof it doesn't have a “Death Wobble”, lol must've heard the lingo around the shop cause I didn't think he knew what that actually is. Also I noticed a large crack on the windshield and he told me it was from when they were driving it back from Florida (so that would explain the difference in the mileage from the carfax when they got the Jeep 2 weeks before at 94,700 miles to the 96,000 miles it has now that someone took it to Florida seeing that the previous owner was from Goodlettesville). So now comes the day it's completely ready and I'm ready to make an offer. They were still trying to push the financing and I told them no need I can pay cash but I wanted to make an offer without all the markups and an out the door price of the 19k (so all they would be out was the cost of taxes). That's when the Sales Manager James laughed at my offer and said the prices were non-negotiable. I offered their price and was willing to even pay the taxes and fees but they refused and wanted me to still finance it and that I could make an early pay off but the price would still be 25,000 with all their extra markups (as well as inflated taxes because by my calculations they had taxes at 8.5% when they are 7%), so I walked. Also come to find out they ran a hard inquiry on my credit before I even got there that morning as well as their lenders so I had 3 hard inquiries on my credit report that were unauthorized and unnecessary because I wasn't even going to use their financing. Bad business. I would not recommend.
