My sunroof would not close. I thought - take it to the dealer - since they deal with these types of issues all the time - they would know what to do. The public - knows that Dealers are usually more expensive than independent shops, but I thought the Dealer would give me better service. I also - setup the appointment early - 7:00am thinking if they had the car all day - they could use the time to fix the sunroof. Instead - I didn't receive a phone call or text all day. at 3:30pm I sent a text to the service man - asking for status - but didn't receive a response. At 4:00pm, I called - and was told Alberto had gone home for the day - and that my car was in the service bay and wasn't ready - they needed the car another day. At 7:30am the next day - I received a text - with a link to a video (Love the videos!) and was looking forward to a resolution to my issue - instead I got a 10 second video of the technician - no audio - walking around the car. Big deal. That doesn't tell me anything. I received a phone call from Alberto telling me it was going to cost over $4000 to repair the sunroof. It took - an entire day - to tell me this? And then - charge me 1/2 of what I paid for the car? (I bought the car used for $8,000). The public has come to conclusion - dealers cost more - but we still go anyway thinking they may know something the independent shops don't know. So...now I have to research 2nd opinions including Chat GPT which stated that figure was so overpriced - and not worth it. But the worst part was - I had to pay $250.00 for the inspection. They didn't remove the ceiling, they didn't do anything that cost $250.00 and - most shops would offer a free inspection especially when the cost of repair is in the $1,000's. And - the final rub: I had to pay for Lyft (Because they only pay for one way - so $35.00 out of pocket + They changed me $250.00 and no car wash. No window cleaning. No vacuum. Honestly? This is the reason dealerships have a bad name. This is the epitome of why no one wants to go to a dealer for service. Bad Service, no phone call or text for the entire day, exorbitant costs for repairs - and exorbitant costs for just a simple inspection. As a Consumer, I'm xxxxxx - but it doesn't matter. They aren't going to do anything but read this and shrug it off. But...live and learn. I just hate learning the hard way - not to go there anymore. More
