John, Thank you for your business and congrats on the Grand Highlander. I appreciate your loyalty to Ed Martin Toyota and I hope to see you in the future. I apologize you felt like the transactions was impersonal in regards to discount for the wait period. In some ways, you are right, because the demand is so high, it doesn’t make sense to discount vehicles when they are all pre-sold. However, and more importantly, since we only are selling half the vehicles we did before the pandemic, we are a little protective of the profit margin on these vehicles because we know “other” dealers are charging market adjustments above MSRP (which we have never done), but also our expenses (rent, taxes, utilities, etc.) are unchanged from before the supply shortages. Additionally, most, if not all of our 113 employees have had raises in the past 12-months due to cost of inflation. All these factors weight into why we can’t discount vehicles, unless of course Ed Martin Toyota made the error or inconvenience. Again, I appreciate you, and thank you for your taking the time to share your thoughts with me, it means a lot to me to read this feedback and have a conversation about it.
