Warranty Checkup on New 2017 Pilot We took our 5 month old 2017 Pilot in to have it checked out due to sluggish acceleration since the Odyssey we were replacing had better acceleration. We took our 5 month old 2017 Pilot in to have it checked out due to sluggish acceleration since the Odyssey we were replacing had better acceleration. Diamara was our service consultant and was very friendly and helpful. However, we were told that the "sluggishness" is due to the new Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) transmission that Honda as well as other manufacturers are using in these cars. While we were fully satisfied with Diamara's service, we are not completely satisfied with the explanation. I was talking to a friend that had an older Pilot and just replaced it with a new pilot a couple of months after us and he confirmed that it is definitely not as "peppy" out of the gate as his old Pilot. All I can say is that if the CVT transmission is really responsible, then Honda and the other car companies need to reevaluate their decision to go with that type of transmission, because it is quite a noticeable difference! More
