Unprofessional service and sales team! Customer Service Specialist, I am again writing to complain about the terrible service my wife and I have received. If you will review my case again and see what we had to go through in the past. I am attaching my original letter. After Superior Hyundai replaced the compressor on our car on 9-5-18, we used the AC about 3 times. On 3-1-19, we drove to Florida for a month stay. We turned on the AC and it did not work. We made an appointment with Hyundai of New Port Richey, USHY 19, 34652, for 11:30 on March 2. Arrived there at 11:00. There were 8 cars in front of mine. They did not get our car into the garage until 1:15 (2H15M). After 30 minutes later, the Assistant Service Manager, J.V. Nicolas, met with us and told us that a stone or some object had damaged the condenser and it would not be covered under warranty. I argued that there are stones on the road and Hyundai should protect the condenser from those and we considered it an engine design flaw. They did not agree and he said they could repair it for cost of more than $1000. We were not happy so the A.S.M. wrote down on the back of his card, the Hyundai Consumer Affairs phone number for us to call. Their top salesman then tried to convince us to trade in our 2018 Sonata with 20,204 miles on it for a 2019 Sonata. This was his fix. We left disgusted with the poor service and spent the entire month in Florida with no AC in 85 degree weather. On returning back to Richmond, Indiana, we made an appointment with the Ray Skillman Westside Auto Mall, 5051 Pike Plaza Rd, Indianapolis, In. 46254, on 4-19-19. After driving 1H30M, were arrived at 11:00. We were immediately taken care of. After 1 hour, the Service Consultant came in and told us they were leak testing and could find no leaks. After a 2nd hour, the S.C. came in and told us they were checking the AC valve and would let us know. After the 3rd hour, the S.C. came in and told us that the valve was OK and they were leak testing it again. After 3.5 hours, the S.C. came in and told us that there were no leaks and when they replaced the compressor on 9-5-18, they only put in 1/2 the amount of refrigerant needed. The condenser was not leaking as we were told in Port Richey. We were told we would have to pay $74 to refill the refrigerant that Superior Hyundai did not fill properly. I told the S.C. I would not pay for the poor service at Superior Hyundai. I was told that then, they would have to remove the refrigerant that they had put in or call Hyundai to get permission to charge them the $74, and it would take 4-7 days......pathetic. On the walls at the dealership were 2 plagues which stated, "We'll stand by our cars," "Excellent treatment for both you and your car," "If you feel we had not fulfilled this promise or met your expectations, please let us know." We let them know. The S.C. told us that they could not be responsible $$ wise for another dealership's performance and could not get the $74 from them since they were in competition with all other dealerships. We told them we would report this to the BBB and Hyundai and would never buy another Hyundai. After more discussion, the S.C. talked to someone else and they did not charge us the $74. We were there for 4 hours. It is truly unbelievable how bad the Hyundai service is at so many of your dealerships. We are still considering putting in a complaint with the BBB about Hyundai's so-called great warranty and service. More
