I'm confident in the work done at Subaru. The use of text messages to communicate job status is great. The customer waiting room and restrooms are nice and clean and comfortable. The one conc The use of text messages to communicate job status is great. The customer waiting room and restrooms are nice and clean and comfortable. The one concern I had was I was told the car would be ready in 90 minutes, so I stayed nearby rather than going home, and when I returned 90 minutes later, they told me the car was out of alignment and it needed a new cabin filter, and this would take a couple of additional hours. So, at that point, I got a rideshare home, and had my wife drive me back later when the car was ready. Another minor issue was, I have an aftermarket battery, Optima RED25, after having 2 Subaru batteries fail on me and I was paid in a class action settlement related to Subaru batteries. The service manager told me that the battery was rated at 720 CCA, and was only generating 450 or so, and suggested a battery replacement. The car has been sitting for a while, so the fact that the batter was low was not surprising. The service manager also implied that the after market battery was somehow inferior to a Subaru battery, and the converse is the case. I also brought in several coupons, and asked which would save me the most money. We chose the minor service fro $189. After I was told the alignment needed to be done, I had a coupon that would have saved quite a bit more, but was told I couldn't switch coupons at that point. Of course, I didn't know that I needed the alignment when I first checked in, so this doesn't seem right. More

No estimate had been provided prior to car drop off although I had called ahead to clearly describe the issue. When I came by midday to pick up the car, I was asked to sign off on work completed BEFORE anyone had shown me the completed work. I refused to sign until I saw the result. Car was brought in from offsite parking, but no one discussed it with me. I checked it out myself, but if it had been engine or chassis work, I wouldnt have been okay with self-inspection. I came in during lunch, so possible that my service rep was out, and things would have gone differently at another time, but I work, so did pickup during my lunch break. Service on the car was fine, but lack of estimate prior to drop off, lack of completed work review/discussion, and paying $1K to replace molded plastic lenses was... MEH. More

Jay took care of my paperwork, texted me and called me when the mechanic asked about additional repairs. Professional all the way. I trust these guys because I have been returning to Albany Ford-Subaru si when the mechanic asked about additional repairs. Professional all the way. I trust these guys because I have been returning to Albany Ford-Subaru since I bought my Forester in 2001. I have had the Repairs Department call me to say that they over-estimated and that my actual bill is less than they stated. How's that for honesty? Both the shuttle drivers, Rick and Philip were skillful and personable. I enjoyed our conversations. More

I bought my brand new 2024 Crosstrek from Albany and had it serviced twice. I will say everyone was friendly and the service was fine. My complaint comes a few days later. I had my windshield replaced at a it serviced twice. I will say everyone was friendly and the service was fine. My complaint comes a few days later. I had my windshield replaced at a reputable store, given the options by my insurance (the dealership wasn’t an option). The glass company couldn’t recalibrate it-they tried for hours with no avail and told me I need to go to the dealership. I called Albany to see if they could recalibrate it and they rudely stated “we can only recalibrate if you get the windshield installed with us,” and “all other dealerships do this.” I explained my situation: the windshield was in, my insurance never gave me the dealership option, they used Subaru glass- and nothing. Didn’t look up my information, and turned me away. For all I know they sold me a car with bad Eye Sight functioning and left me high and dry. Called Walnut Creek Subaru and guess what?! They could recalibrate it no problem, got an appointment 3 days later. So my business will be with them going forward. I hope this is a lesson to the employee at Albany about good customer service.
