Keeping in mind that car buying in todays climate is entirely different I will do my best. I initially contacted C.T. to buy a GR86. I was contacted and arranged to meet with the sales manager on a sp entirely different I will do my best. I initially contacted C.T. to buy a GR86. I was contacted and arranged to meet with the sales manager on a specified date and time. Upon arriving I was greeted by a sales associate, I explained who I was there to see and why, and he brought me in and started helping me. The car that was on the website that I came to try to purchase was sold so we began the process of a contract for a car in transit. The music was definitely the most painful part of this deal. It is ridiculously loud and that of rave or night club. I am pretty hip for an older lady but it was awful (both times I was in). During my dealings with my sales associate the sales manager I was supposed to meet phoned me. He was in the cubicle directly across from me so it was funny. He wanted to know if I would be making it in. I waved and said I have been here and we parted phone ways. I had preapproval fast track financing from my credit union and I told my sales person this. He insisted that they needed to run my credit even with the fast track approval which irritated me but what can you do? A short time later I was in the finance office signing contracts and mentioned that I was a not feeling fantastic about buying a car I have never seen, driven, or met but was assured if the car was not to what I wanted when it did come in, I would be under no obligation. I left and was told the car was in transit on a ship and would be here in the beginning of June and they would call when they had updates. I phoned twice during this time and my calls were returned and updated best they could. On the Tuesday before I took possession of my car I received a that my car was going to be at the dock by Thursday and it could take up to a week or so to process but they would update me. I am excited now! I believe it was Friday when I got the call that it was off the boat and they would let me know when they had it. Saturday I get the call, it is here and they need to process and clean it for delivery but I could pick it up at 6 or 7 pm. I told this wonderful man that I am a bit older and would be a bit nervous driving a new car I don't know in the dark so I would be there first thing Sunday morning. He explained that he couldn't guarantee that it wouldn't be sold so I should come that night. I did mention that I had bought this car so how could it be sold and he said something about the vin numbers were not on the contract so it could happen. I agreed to come out and would try to get there by 6 as I had to move out of the vehicle I was trading in, get ready, and drive over an hour to get there in SoCal traffic. He kept checking in with me as his shift was over soon and at one point he said he had to leave but gave me the contact name of another person. That person contacted me and I explained I was about 15 minutes out according to navigation and he said great I will see you when you get here. I get there and he is gone but I do have the name of lad that was prepping my car and we find out he is gone too. The gentleman that was helping me told me he had just punched out but would try to find someone to help me and sat me down in the finance area. At the 20 minute mark I began the text to the original contact to see if he could find a human to help me and right when I was to send it, a young man came up, introduced himself and offered me a test drive. The car was wonderful, more gorgeous in person than I imagined, and drove beautifully. We came back to the shop and went into resign the contracts that needed to be signed and then out front to the car. This wonderful young man gave me his card (which is in my car currently so I can't give you his name) should I have any questions. He tried to link my phone or Toyota app with the car via the SOS button but was unable to and I am unable to also to this day. He pulled out the paper mats, gave me the front license plate as they didn't have time to install it but told me I could come back to have installed. I mentioned I was not local and he said I could go to any Toyota and they would do it which I have not done as I have been busy. Off I drove. Going through the car and trying to get to know it I found this very useful Toyota hand over checklist which unfortunately was not done with me, so I use You-tube and read through the many manuals that came with the car to try to figure things out. So I will end where I started, these are crazy times and car buying is different. The one thing that never changes is the human aspect of business and I am a huge "how can I provide you with excellent customer service/satisfaction" gal. Thank you Home Depot circa 1990 something for teaching me that valuable life skill. The service I got was not horrible but not great either. Lower the music, have your staff slow down and develop a relationship with the customer. Provide that outstanding car buying experience at every step and do a follow up call just to check in and make sure all is good. The initial Sales manger that contacted me that Saturday for pick up was wonderful and the young man that helped me drive off into the moonlight that night was wonderful too. My original sales person Pablo was out so I didn't deal with him again but I believe I had a another Pablo whom was very helpful, Juan in finance initially was nice and the closing finance gentleman was fast and good too. Sorry I am horrible with names! More
