But, I decided to move forward since I felt it was worth at least exploring and finding out whether it would be something that could actually work out. I dealt with both Sarah Gavin and Kevin Dant who I can't say enough laudatory things about. From their responsiveness and follow-up to their desire to push this deal forward, they truly showed me that they were interested in doing business with me despite the geographic barrier. They got the process started with my trade-in valuation and we negotiated an overall fair out the door price. Once we came to terms, I finalized my own financing, and they were very patient with me during this process. Kevin is the consummate professional. He was accommodating and helpful when it came to the sale and trade-in of my vehicle. He was committed to seeing my purchase through and made sure I was treated fairly. When we came to terms on a price, I indicated that I would need a day to think it over. However, the next morning, I noticed the price of the car had increased by $2k. When I mentioned this to him, he said they would still honor the original listing price the day prior since that is what we agreed upon. Upon arriving to the dealership, I was shown the car and given a quick tutorial. Since I was already coming from a similar BMW, this process didn’t take too long. Then came time to sign the paperwork and this is where things did not go according to plan. I had my own financing where the final sale price, trade, taxes, etc. were all negotiated upon and set. I thought it would simply be a matter of signing the paperwork. As we started the process, I was asked about a payoff amount discrepancy. I proceeded to show them the payoff amount as of that day. After a few minutes, this is when Scott Eubank came out. As soon as I saw him, I did not have a good feeling about what was about to transpire. He proceeds to tell me that due to interest accruing from the time I gave them a payoff six days prior, he would need to collect money from me for the difference. I was told about $20. My thought was - you are going to nickel and dime me over $20 after I drove 3+ hours, already had come to terms, and spent a large sum of money on this car? Is he for real? I told them that we agreed upon a final “amount owed” that was reflected in the two forms of payment that I brought with me and unfortunately cannot be changed. I refused to a) pay for something that I was not told would be required and b) in my opinion was an oversight on their part. In certain cases in the past, I wound up getting money back due to a difference in the payoff but never have been asked to pay more for a car due to a payoff incongruity than what was agreed upon. I even made it clear at the beginning during the pre-sales phase that the amount due needs to be “reconciled to the penny.” After going back and forth, this is when Scott started to take a disrespectful tone with me. He was dismissive and said “whatever” when I told him who gave me the updated dealer PO. He also said something to the effect of “you’re going to back out of the deal over this” but in an aggressive tone. I even showed him the PO that matched the funds I provided, and he was very abrasive and dismissive during that. The fact that I had to raise my voice at him speaks to the way things were going at that point. I almost walked away because I knew I deserved better than the way he was speaking to me. He simply was not willing to give me the benefit of the doubt. What happened to listening to and appeasing the customer? Instead, I had this rude, disrespectful, and insolent guy I had to deal with who stormed off because he had to correct the paperwork. Be mindful if you must deal with Scott Eubank especially if there is an issue with the transaction. More
