Purchase of Pilot EX-L Test drove 1 month before buying as we were expecting twins in December and wanted to make the purchase after they were born. Went in the last week of December which was very busy but she was able to effectively manage getting us out in a reasonable amount of time. Only downside to the experience was the warranty pitch. Really didn't have time to spend 35 minutes going through the process but we expected this going in. Overall terrific experience. More
Clinton Honda: Where pressure is not permitted. I bought the totally remodeled 2016 Honda Civic EX CVT (...which we LOVE) at Clinton (literally) on line, partnering with Joe Vizzi. I value time and I bought the totally remodeled 2016 Honda Civic EX CVT (...which we LOVE) at Clinton (literally) on line, partnering with Joe Vizzi. I value time and couldn't spend it in a dealership. More importantly, Clinton understands and VALUES the Internet Sales business model, when so many other Honda dealerships in our area have one...but don't support it (giving replies of..."come in, let's talk"). With Clinton, I presented my purchase price proposal within an email and Joe Vizzi responded quickly, yet gave me space, sparing me from calls ("twice a day") that other dealers inflict upon you, as you send them an email. In fact, Joe and I did 95% of our communication by email, that I sent and he responded quickly. That is RESPECT for my time. Joe not only let me know Clinton would accept my VERY competitive price below MSRP (they had good reason to decline...others did), but was willing to meet my financing terms, which were lower than market for a new car. When it finally came time to go into Clinton's showroom and test drive the car, providing deposit, I felt so comfortable in the showroom from the moment I stepped in...to the point I walked out the door smiling...with the keys and contract. Joe is a stand up guy with a great personality...and also the fastest walking man in NJ, just saying, the guy can motor! That said, he reviewed options, which were available to me for the Civic, but you can relax and consider them. If you say you want them, no problem. If you say you don't want them, no problem. Pressure is not permitted in the Clinton dealership. While Joe IS busy, from the moment he greeted me at the door, I totally felt that I was his ONLY customer, receiving his total attention. He reviewed the primary numbers of our online agreement and they were all accurate, so there were no surprises. The car was waiting for me to test. I was even able to drive it around the lot afterwards with Joe, in order to look at other colors in a temperature controlled environment on a cold day. I signed the purchase order, left deposit and returned for delivery the next business day. I never had to wait. When I met with the finance guy to draw up final contract with signatures, he did, in fact, review additional options for the vehicle, including warranties and protection plans. Yet again, they are offered for your consideration, not forced upon you. Now this is a key point, that you need to remember. When it came time to sign final contract and review final numbers, the financing interest rate that we agreed upon, which I secured prior to arrival - - and Clinton "matched" (mind you, below market rate for new car purchases), was further REDUCED on the final contract. What?? This had to be a mistake. I was honest to tell the finance manager (...no, I'm not stupid, I just believe in good karma!). I was told they were able to offer me an even lower rate, even further below what we AGREED to prior and what I was prepared to sign!! They could have simply pocketed the difference. I would have never known and still felt I got a great deal. When a dealership does this, you are dealing with a DIFFERENT dealership. Due to this experience and the manner in which Clinton conducts business with integrity, if I had to walk to Clinton (...which is a farther drive than two other very local Honda Dealerships - - Princeton and Bridgewater - - which, from my experience, both provide a very traditional (aka "Have your guard up!" - dealership experience, circa 1980), I would in fact, walk in order to deal with Joe Vizzi and the financing team at Clinton. They earned this customer's loyalty with their commitment to the Internet Sales model (...actually conducting BUSINESS by email) their outstanding, trustworthy staff (Joe Vizzi is your guy..) and finance team. I'm not easy to get along with at times (ask my wife), but Clinton is heaven if you want to relax when you purchase your new car and know you are leaving with the best deal, without a battle. In fact, working with Joe Vizzi, you can watch football on TV and correspond via email. Whatever works for you, works for Clinton. It's an understatement to say I'll be back. They EARNED my loyalty on EVERY level. More
